Hobs Reprographics plc purchase Watkiss PowerSquare booklet making solution

Monday 21. May 2012 - Hobs Reprographics plc, the largest independent reprographics company in Europe, with a network of 29 UK branches and over 300 staff across the UK and Ireland, made a flying visit to Drupa on May 8th and purchased a Nearline Watkiss PowerSquare 200 booklet making system.

Hobs has provided reprographic services to a broad range of clients in the AEC, legal and creative design sectors since 1969. Following the installation of two Indigo presses, the company now operates a division focussing on high quality colour presentation material and documents; and it is for this work that they turned to Watkiss to provide a solution for some very individual booklet making requirements. “Much of the work that we produce for our clients is printed on a minimum of 160 or 170gsm stock, frequently with high paginations, and a conventional booklet maker wouldn’t handle this work,” explains Hobs Director Christie O’Brien. “We also produce some very long documents – as much as 15,000 pages. We were looking for better presentation than wire-binding, and the SquareBack finish of the Watkiss PowerSquare provided the perfect solution.”
The Watkiss PowerSquare 200 is a unique booklet making system that stitches folds and trims to produce square-spined SquareBack books up to 200 pages thick. It features fully automatic settings for different book size and pagination, including variable stitch leg length for varying book thickness.
The Powersquare is available as offline, nearline and online systems, and Watkiss are demonstrating all versions on their Drupa Stand (Hall 13, Stand 13/B70).
