Focus on high-end finishing with cost-cutting varnishing and laminating sys-tems in packaging and publishing / Growing demand for ‘Swiss Engineering’ quality in Asia, despite countless low-cost offerings / International audience also targeted
Steinemann Technology AG, St. Gallen/Switzerland, will be focusing on high-end print finishing in the packaging and publishing sector. On its exhibition stand in Hall 3 (Stand 3-II-004), the company will thus be giving live demonstrations of both a LOTUS SF laminating machine for solvent-free polyurethane adhesive and a COLIBRI varnishing machine for full-flood UV varnishing. Having its own factory in China – Steinemann (Shanghai) Machinery Co., Ltd. – and a service and sales office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Steinemann Technology is close to its customers even in the Far East and has succeeded in developing a correspondingly strong market position as a result. Being the world’s third-largest printing mar-ket, China, in particular, ranks among the key markets for the company. Its presence at the leading trade fairs in the region is an crucial element of the company’s long-term growth strategy.
“There are numerous low-cost suppliers operating on the market, particularly in Southeast Asia. But everybody knows that the profitability of investments in machinery is determined not by the acquisition costs, but much more by the productivity and, above all, the operating costs of the machines over the whole of their service life. In this situation, ‘Swiss Engineering’ is increasingly assert-ing itself, even on the markets in the Asia-Pacific region. That’s emphasised by our latest successes in China, Indonesia, India and other countries,” says Alexander McNab, Area Sales Manager for Southeast Asia at Steinemann Technology AG, outlining the trend. Steinemann Technology has a winning pair of trump cards in its hand in this respect, the LOTUS SF and the COLIBRI. “Both of these high-end machines deliver excellent production re-sults in combination with maximum dependability and very low operating costs – which are the decisive criteria for many customers.”
Both the LOTUS SF and the COLIBRI are now being produced at the Steine-mann factory in Shanghai and shipped to customers around the world. This production facility was opened in 2006 and is certified to ISO 9001, meaning that the machines manufactured there comply with all Steinemann’s quality standards and the new, stringent European Machinery Directives. At PRINT CHINA 2011, Steinemann Technology will be using the LOTUS SF to demon-strate applications involving metallised polyester films, which are becoming increasingly popular in the folding-box sector. The COLIBRI 74 will show how maximum gloss values can be achieved with minimum varnish consumption of less than 3 g/m2. The company’s presentation at the exhibition in Dongguan will additionally include a host of samples of high-end packagings and publica-tions finished with special effects.
In view of the international nature of PRINT CHINA 2011, the company is ex-pecting the exhibition in Dongguan to offer the opportunity to welcome visitors not only from the region, but from all over the world.
