The Graphic Division of Steinemann Technology AG, St. Gallen / Switzer-land, will be presenting a number of innovations at this year’s drupa, underlining its competence as the world’s leading manufacturer of solu-tions and systems for high-end print finishing. Among other things, the company will be giving live demonstrations of two high-performance systems at work on its exhibition stand (Hall 3, Stand D32): the latest version of its innovative SYRIUS W high-speed laminating machine and its unique HIBIS 104 rotary screen and flexo printing machine. In short: Steinemann will be showing visitors to drupa 2008 the state of the art in premium-quality finishing.

With its SYRIUS W high-speed laminating machine and the LOTUS SF (Sol-vent-Free), Steinemann now covers all three laminating methods – SF, water-based and thermal – and thus every demand on high-performance lamination. Offering optimum operator convenience, the latest version of the SYRIUS W gives freedom of choice between the water-based and thermal lamination processes, at the same time being characterised by the highest degree of automation worldwide and uncompromising process reliability. Additional fea-tures are the world-famous, patented Steinemann Hot Knife technology for sheet cutting, as well as very short changeover and makeready times. Follow-ing successful conclusion of extensive field tests, Steinemann will soon be starting to ship production machines. With the LOTUS SF, on the other hand, Steinemann offers a solvent-free and thus ecologically operating laminating system that boasts particularly favourable production costs per sheet. New on the LOTUS SF is that this system can now also process laminating films based on polyethylene and thus food packagings (in direct contact with foods).

The high-performance varnishing of print products is the second key topic to be addressed by Steinmann at drupa 2008. In this context, the company will emphasise that, as the inventor of UV varnishing technology, it has now been the market and technological leader in this sector for 30 years. Steinemann will be underlining this claim by presenting several innovations for its globally unique HIBIS 104 high-speed machine. It integrates screen and flexo printing in a single system, thus offering a perfect combination of top quality and flexi-bility with maximum reliability and cost-efficiency. For one thing, the company is once again expanding the range of applications for the HIBIS 104 by intro-ducing the ‘High-Gloss Flexo Unit’. For another, Steinemann will be presenting the HIBIS 104 with even greater accuracy at drupa 2008. In the field of screen technology, Steinemann will moreover be enlarging the range of possible spe-cial effects by offering new versions of the multiply reusable HIBIScreen.

“If printers and finishers want to exploit the fascinating potential of the market for high-end print finishing, they need to be able to act more flexibly than ever before – and that in combination with top-class quality, productivity and cost-efficiency. At this year’s drupa, we will be emphasising that our comprehensive range of products and solutions, our decades of competence and experience, and our global presence make us the ideal partner on the manufacturer side for customers operating in the finishing sector. And we want to stress that, as the market and technological leader, we make a decisive contribution to ad-vancing developments in high-end finishing,” says Jürg Spittler, Vice President of Steinemann Technology AG and Director of the Graphic Division, summing up the company’s commitment at drupa 2008.
