OMET BRINGS ITALIAN INNOVATION TO LABELEXPO EUROPE 2009

Friday 09. October 2009 - Known for its ongoing commitment to innovation, Omet, the leading Italian manufacturer of narrow web technology, will be running live demonstrations of three new machine configurations in Hall 7 Stand L100 at the Brussels expo.

‘Change On the Fly’ X-Flex
Two years on from successfully launching its X-Flex line at Labelexpo Europe 2007, the company will be exhibiting an 8-colour press with a 430 mm web width featuring the newly developed ‘change on the fly’ print capability. Winner of last year’s FTA Award for Innovation, the X-Flex has been Omet’s fastest selling press of all time, with a lot of units sold to date to leading label converters around the world.

The X-Flex will handle substrates from 12-micron unsupported film to 250-micron carton board with equal ease, and offers a major reduction in set-up times waste levels, thanks to its short web path. Top print quality is available via the fully automatic Vision-1 system. This integrates pre-register and press control during production and dramatically cuts waste during job changes. The new design of Flexo print unit, which combines impression roll and chill drum, offers better print quality at all speeds by allowing the press to get into register more rapidly and optimising tension control for filmic substrates.

DIGITAL – PRINT OF THE FUTURE
To extend the appeal of the X-Flex even further, Omet announces the launch of its new X-Jet 430 at the Brussels expo. Developed to meet the demand for instant print capability, the new digital printing engine is available with 4 print heads as a stand-alone unit or to work inline with the X-Flex where it can be combined with Flexo, Screen, and Laminating techniques. Ideally suited for wine, beverage, cosmetics and pharmaceutical labels, the ink jet DOD (Drop on Demand) technology, which uses a diaphragm moved by electric impulses to inject the ink, is flexible and fast to make ready. Of particular interest is its Mono Twin Cut capability, which means that if the print image is altered, only the die cutting tool needs changing to restart production.

VARYFLEX OFFSET ADDS VERSATILITY
Making its debut at an international exhibition, the Omet VaryFlex Offset line will highlight the range’s multi process capability by producing IML work. The 430 mm press utilises the company’s newly developed Offset technology, which can be combined with Flexo, Rotogravure, Screen, Hot & Cold Foil and Hologram inserting all inline. Renowned for combining a wide degree of flexibility with high speed, the modular design of the VaryFlex, with its slide-in, slide-out units, provides converters with multi substrate capability from 12 to 700-micron. Key features include the use of sleeve technology, reverse side printing without turn bars, infinitely variable print repeats, and ‘on the fly’ die cutting.

NEW MEDIUM WEB OPTION
For converters looking to move into medium web formats, or for those looking for new developments in this area, Omet will be showing its new VaryFlex 850. Combining all the advantages of the well proven narrow web VaryFlex technology, the new 850 mm wide machine will offer extended market opportunities, coupled with high performance.
