Omet Flexy/Flexy-S
Wednesday 07. October 2009 - The Omet Flexy and Flexy-S model ranges are designed to offer simplicity and ease of use to label converters. With user friendliness as a byword, both models meet todays market demands for quality print produced at affordable prices.
The Flexy, which is available in three web widths, 255, 330, and 420 mm, has a maximum speed of 150 m/min. It offers a combination of flexo and screen printing, with interchangeable units, as well as inline hot and cold foil processes. Job changes can be effected quickly and simply with the Flexys ergonomic design. The intuitive operator interface means that job parameters like web tension, print repeat, anilox volumes, and colour sequence can be set and stored, while video cameras monitor the printed image on the moving web.
Other processes available include: delam/relam, and peel & seal for multilayer jobs, inline hot melt adhesive application, denesting for die cut blanks, and a variety of automatic stackers for small format work and cartons.
The Flexy-S is a step up in technology. It introduces shaftless and servo drive capability for the very highest performance across the full spectrum of substrates. This allows it to print with the smallest changes in pitch because the servo motors give direct drive to the plate and impression cylinders. It is available in the same three web widths, 255, 330, and 420 mm, but has a higher top speed of 200 m/min.
When combined with automatic register control, this gives the Flexy-S the capability of producing the highest quality work at top speed, while offering fast make readies and low waste levels.
Features available in addition to those on the Flexy include Open Factory, Omets remote diagnostic service for monitoring press performance and applying software upgrades via the Internet, and pre register functions that reduce waste and improve versatility. In the converting section, Twin Cut allows the production of a variety of formats without the need to change the magnetic cylinders. This results is a significant cost saving.
Its servo drive gives the Flexy-S a wide production range on paper and self adhesive filmic materials such as PE, PET, BOPP, and Clear on Clear for applications in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, food and industrial markets. On unsupported films, PP, OPP, BOPP, and PE, applications include bottle wraps and inmould labels. Heat shrink films like PVC, OPS and PET can be used to produce blister packs on multilayer film, clear boxes, toothpaste tubes, blister cards, yoghourt and food packaging, labels for wine, beer and soft drink bottles, and ice cream cones.
Added versatility comes from special application products. These are: promotional labels, booklets and coupons, RFID tags, transport tags and labels with magnetic bands, holograms for security and anti-counterfeiting, and cartons for the pharmaceutical industry.
The Flexy and Flexy-S offer an affordable introduction to the full capability of Omet technology in the narrow web market, and are designed for continuous use in a demanding work environment.
