Mimaki shows its leadership in UV LED printing at Fespa Digital

UJV-160

Tuesday 19. May 2009 - Conventional UV and future-oriented UV LED solutions inspire visitors to delve into this productive and efficient technology that requires no drying time so can be processed immediately after printing. The new fast and high quality JFX-1631 UV LED flatbed inkjet printer will be the star at the booth.

Mimaki Engineering, a leading manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and cutting machines for the sign/graphics, textile/apparel and industrial markets will welcome visitors to its booth (B70 & C65) at Fespa Digital in Amsterdam with a spectacular UV product line-up, including the launch of its new JFX-1631 UV LED flatbed inkjet printer, that broadens the variety of applications while at the same time saving money.

Launched at Fespa Digital this year, the JFX-1631 UV LED curing inkjet flatbed printer will attract many visitors. This new UV technology paired with newest microstepping dot placement and other inventions has been employed in the JFX-1631. With a print area of up to 1,602 mm (63.1″) x 3,100 mm (122″) and media height up to 50 mm the JFX-1631 can achieve twice the speed of its predecessor, the JF family. At the same time the machine enables faster operation since it does not require UV lamp warm up time. Also it saves about 2/3 of energy in comparison with the JF-series. Due to newest state-of-the-art technology and the incorporation of eight new print heads the JFX-1631 enhances productivity and efficiency while at the same time improving the environmental footprint of print service providers.

Mimaki’s paramount position within UV inkjet technology is underlined by the presentation of its hybrid award winning UV LED curing printer UJV-160. The printer can accommodate heat sensitive roll and rigid media, because UV LED does not produce high curing temperatures. To further enhance flexibitility Mimaki offers the choice between flexible and hard UV inks, including white ink to widen the range of applications. The flexible UV ink developed in conjunction with 3M can stretch up to 200%. This enables printing on cured ink membranes such as vehicle wrapping using thin PVC and any other curved surfaces such as shutters without the occurance of ink cracks when finishing. With two machines on the booth Mimaki will show both the roll-to-roll and the flatbed capabilities of the printer.

The UJV-160 flatbed will be accompanied by the CF2 Series flatbed cutting plotter to show an effective print and cut workflow for rigid media up to 1 cm thick, such as POP displays. The CF2 is equipped with an optical sensor that allows for accurate contour cutting of printed images.

The UJF Series enables UV printing on rigid materials up to 50 mm thickness, no matter the surface. This way golf balls, pens, buttons, phones, computers and other gift items as well as ceramics, acrylics, glass, tiles, wood, metal and plastic can be printed with six colours plus white and clear. With a resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi many industrial applications including markings, institutional signage, ad specialities and lots of other products stand out and deliver exceptional results.

Apart from the UJF-605CII, the UJF-605RII will be on display. This hybrid UV printer enables printing on sheet and roll materials up to a width of 60 cm. The six colour printer is especially aimed at applications for package proofing and short run jobs including printing of membrane switches and features a resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi.

“We are very proud to be able to present our newest innovations at Fespa. The show has always been a launchpad to showcase our latest technologies. In keeping with this tradition Mimaki showcases not only conventional UV solutions but also the newest state-of-the-art products in order to help print service providers to fulfil the demands of their customers to their fullest as well as exceeding their expectations”, says Sakae Sagane, Managing Director Mimaki Europe.
