Océ JetStream simplex, duplex systems help customers transition to digital

Compact systems offer full width duplex printing in one cabinet

Thursday 19. March 2009 - Compact systems offer full width duplex printing in one cabinet

Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, today announced new Océ JetStream models to help a wider range of users make the transition from offset to high speed digital printing. The Océ JetStream 500 and Océ JetStream 1000 systems bring award-winning Océ JetStream technology and productivity to users with monthly print volumes of up to 20 million impressions.

The simplex Océ JetStream 500 and duplex Océ JetStream 1000 engines are the most flexible full color web presses for transaction, direct mail and transpromo applications. With the addition of the latest models, the Océ JetStream family represents the most consistent, complete ink jet product line in the industry addressing the market requirements of an expanding base of users.

“According to Caslon, the number of offset produced pages in 2009 for transaction, transpromo and direct mail will be approximately 610 billion in the US and Europe. With the growth of high-speed color technologies such as the Océ JetStream family, it is expected that in the next 5 years, more than 10% of the offset volume will transition to digital print. With the new Océ JetStream models, we are making it possible for more customers to participate in this growing opportunity,” said Crit Driessen, Vice President Marketing and Strategy, Océ Production Printing.

The compact but full-featured Océ JetStream 500 and 1000 systems are the first inkjet systems in the industry to offer full width duplex in one cabinet. The Océ JetStream 500 model prints approximately 505 A4 (535 letter) images per minute at 600×600 dpi, while the duplex Océ JetStream 1000 delivers up to 1,010 A4 (1,070 letter) images per minute.

Strategic upgradeability and direct connectivity

The newest Océ JetStream models demonstrate the Océ commitment to a complete, integrated ink jet strategy to help customers at all levels achieve the benefits of full color ink jet printing. This ensures customers have the functionality to grow their business through transpromo opportunities and other communications trends.

The flexible, field-upgradable growth path can take customers from 1/0 to full color and 6/6 including MICR printing. Users can include MICR or other specialty inks, along with CMYK printing for more flexibility than any other inkjet engine. The integrated MICR capability allows printing of convenience and full-color checks with complete reliability, security and error recovery.

Type 1 connectivity allows direct integration with third-party finishing systems.

Footprint up to 60 per cent smaller than competitive solutions

The Océ JetStream 500 and Océ JetStream 1000 systems deliver ink jet print quality to smaller and midsize operations. The Océ JetStream 1000 is the first continuous feed inkjet printer in its speed class offering the single engine perfecting press capabilities, printing both sides of the paper in one engine. This system helps to use floor space more efficiently than competitive systems. Except for the controller, all components including ink stations are integrated in one self-contained cabinet. This compact design takes up a very small footprint 20 to 60 percent smaller than comparably productive monochrome or full color production systems. As a result, customers can enter the production color arena without a major impact on limited floor space.

Platform consistency and proven capabilities

The Océ JetStream 500 and 1000 are based on core technologies associated with the proven Océ JetStream platform including Océ DigiDot inkjet technology and inks and the SRA MP controller architecture. This supports a clear growth path and compatible workflow across all JetStream engines. Users also benefit from the reliability, print quality and media range associated with the JetStream family. Océ DigiDot piezoelectric drop-on-demand inkjet technology uses the industry’s fastest inkjet print heads to produce stunning color at top speeds. The Océ SRA MP (Massively Parallel) controller enables high-speed, uninterrupted workflow for AFP/IPDS data streams. The SRA MP is ideal for rigorous high-speed, full-color digital printing.

Availability

First shipments of the Océ JetStream 500 and 1000 are planned for the end of 2009 with general availability by early 2010.
