Océ named Innovator of the Year by Xplor

Tuesday 03. March 2009 - Honored: Océ JetStream full-color printer with integrated MICR

Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, announced today that it has been named 2009 Innovator of the Year by Xplor International. This award honors an individual, company or organization that has conceived and developed an original concept leading to a significant advancement in the industry.

Océ JetStream “notably enhances” electronic document system capabilities

Océ and the Océ JetStream solution with integrated magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) were chosen out of 18 nominations Xplor received. According to Xplor selection requirements, the chosen Innovator has advanced a new program, product or technology that notably enhances the capabilities of electronic document systems. The Océ JetStream system is the first to integrate MICR ink into a full process digital inkjet color engine as an all-in-one solution to support both high volume color inkjet printing and MICR applications on a single platform. As a result, print professionals can produce convenience and full-color checks with complete reliability, security and error recovery. Enhancements like MICR printing and Océ multilevel printing for output versatility give customers more ways to leverage their investment in high speed color technology.

Océ JetStream and MICR integration: “seamless eloquence”

“The Xplor Awards Committee was extremely impressed with the seamless eloquence of the MICR integration, the use of inkjet technology printing MICR, the versatility of the system, and rich color quality of the Océ Jetstream product,” said Xplor International President and CEO, Skip Henk, EDP. The award will be presented tomorrow during the 2009 Xplor Global Conference and Exhibition being held at St. Pete Beach, Florida.
Xplor award “reaffirms Océ’s commitment to power of innovation”

“Océ is honored to be chosen as Innovator of the Year by Xplor International, one of the industry’s most esteemed professional associations,” said Crit Driessen, Vice President Marketing and Strategy, Océ Production Printing. “We are proud of the recognition the Océ JetStream platform has received and of the Océ professionals who collaborated to bring it to the marketplace. Awards like this and the enthusiastic market response to Océ JetStream full-color inkjet technology validate all our efforts and reaffirm our commitment to the power of innovation.”

Flawless MICR output is essential in production environments that print transactional, insurance, direct mail, transpromo documents and other applications involving check images. Océ has been a leader in delivering MICR solutions on both continuous feed and cutsheet products for many years. In response to the needs of direct mailers, commercial print providers and service bureaus, Océ has extended this expertise to directly integrate MICR capabilities into the landmark Océ JetStream platform.
Additional Background: Océ JetStream Systems with integrated MICR Printing

The groundbreaking high speed Océ JetStream full-color, inkjet product family has redefined productivity and quality standards for ultra-high volume production printing. The Océ JetStream system with integrated MICR expands on the basic four-color process, which uses four inkjet print heads, by adding a fifth row of print heads to the system’s base engine. The result is an elegant implementation of high-speed inkjet color with a MICR printing capability, available across all models in the Océ JetStream family.

Customers can seamlessly print checks along with full-color documents with complete reliability, security and error recovery. Savings come from reduced overall equipment maintenance and streamlined vendor support. The integrated capability makes it easier for customers in terms of application design and implementation, for reduced development cycles and faster turnaround. From an environmental standpoint, the system uses less power requirement and takes up a smaller footprint than using multiple systems for full color and MICR output.

The fifth inkjet head uses the same Océ DigiDot drop-on-demand technology as the other inkjet heads. This ensures state-of-the-art MICR ink formulation without affecting the rest of the printing process. The Océ JetStream series with integrated MICR includes five MICR-capable models. MICR print speeds range from 328 feet/min to 394 feet/min, depending on configuration, with 600×600 dpi MICR resolution. MICR printing is available as an upgrade through the Océ JetStream migration path.
