Online environmental print resource launched

Tuesday 03. March 2009 - Clare Taylor Consulting to provide independent advice on environmental issues affecting the print industry

Today sees the launch of a new online environmental resource for printers edited by independent environmental consultant Clare Taylor. The new website (www.greenprinter.co.uk) will act as a portal, providing vital independent information and practical advice to the print industry on how it can tackle the environmental issues affecting the sector.

The greenprinter web site contains practical information about many environmental issues, including legislation, reducing chemistry, alcohol-free printing, carbon footprints, waste minimisation and recycling. Clare Taylor will be working with other industry experts who will provide regular updates to the site. The site is the first initiative to come out of the strategic partnership between FUJIFILM and Clare Taylor, with FUJIFILM providing the support and funding to get the site off the ground.

Clare Taylor adds: “I have been working for a number of months with FUJIFILM on the development of this site and their vision matched my own. We both felt the industry needed a central, independent resource with practical advice and guidance, as well as links to other sources of reliable third party information. FUJIFILM has helped realise this vision. Ultimately, the goal of the website is to help printers to reduce their environmental footprints and ensure the sustainability of the print industry. But, in the current climate, it’s also important to remember that environmental initiatives can help to reduce operating costs – going green is a sound business choice for more than one reason.”

Graham Leeson, marketing manager at FUJIFILM UK Ltd, says: “With the vast amounts of information available on environmental issues, it can often be a minefield for those printers who want to make improvements, but not at the expense of productivity. The greenprinter website offers a valuable resource compiled by impartial industry experts, ensuring that UK printers get the right information and advice at the click of a mouse.”

The site has already received interest from many of the industry’s leading names, including J & G Environmental.

John Haines, general manager at J & G Environmental, comments: “In this increasingly eco-aware 21st century we believe it is essential that printers are kept up-to-date with information on all the products and services available to help improve their green credentials.”
