RISO EXPANDS ITS ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP BY LAUNCHING A FALL TREE PLANTING CAMPAIGN
Thursday 25. September 2008 - Building on its commitment to the Arbor Day Foundation to plant 100,000 trees, RISOs branches will hold tree planting events in local communities nationwide
RISO, Inc., a leader in digital printing technology, today announced that it has launched a tree planting campaign with the companys branch offices across the United States. A supplier of environmentally-friendly high speed color inkjet printers and duplicators, RISO launched a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation earlier this year to help plant 100,000 trees. As the companys branches hold tree plating events this fall, RISO will leverage this partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation to coordinate the most appropriate seedlings, sites and planting methods.
“Protecting the environment is important to RISO,” said Todd Deluca, President and COO. “And planting trees in the communities we serve confirms our vision of responsibility to our customers, our employees and our dealers to help offset the impact that other printing devices have on the environment.”
The campaign will make stops in many cities, including Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh and Tampa, with the potential of tree plantings being held in other major markets.
“One of the things we really admire about RISO, besides planting trees in a national forest, is that the company is setting a standard in their industry by supporting tree planting events in their dealerships and in their local communities,” said Doug Farrar, Vice President of Arbor Day Farm.
RISOs partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation is proving to be a big difference-maker as the companys effort to plant 100,000 trees over the course of four years is off to a great start. Recently, RISO planted its 12,500th tree in the Bighorn National Forest in Wyoming.
“The RISO planting initiative will create vital habitat for wildlife, save our streams from erosion and clean our air,” said Matt Harris, President of the Arbor Day Foundation. “The Arbor Day Foundation is fortunate to have a number of strong corporate partners to support our mission, and through this project, RISO joins that responsible dedicated group.”
RISO is known throughout the industry for its commitment to green printing technologies. In a 2007 survey of North American office equipment dealers, RISO, Inc. was ranked as the “most green” office products company and was featured in the January 2008 issue of Office Technology magazine.
In addition to being cost-efficient, RISOs various printing products have a lower environmental impact than traditional printing technologies, which in turn help customers to conserve energy, reduce waste and utilize environmentally-friendly features such as soy-based inks. For example, RISOs digital duplicators, which earned the ENERGY STAR for their low energy use, require as little as two amps electrical current when producing copies, or less energy than three light bulbs. In a recent study comparing electricity consumption, RISO digital duplicators showed 95 percent cost savings over many traditional toner-based copiers or MFPs.
