FESPA Welcomes Screen Imaging and Digital Graphic Association of the Philippines as an Associate Member

Thursday 25. September 2008 - FESPA further increased its community of international affiliates at its 2008 General Assembly in Oslo, Norway, welcoming the Screen Imaging and Digital Graphic Association of the Philippines (SIDGAP) to the organisation as an associate member.

Founded in 1995, SIDGAP currently consists of 31 printers and 11 manufacturers and suppliers. Based in Manila, Philippines, SIDGAP undertakes a wide range of activities on behalf of its members. Its services include organising and facilitating member networking activities, presenting educational materials through workshops, hosting general member meetings, as well as distributing regular publications and newsletters to keep its members up to date with the latest screen printing and digital technologies and advancements. SIDGAP’s links with its affiliates, the Asia Screen Printing and Graphic Imaging Association (ASGA), the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce provide additional support to the country’s screen printing industry.

SIDGAP Chairman Mr Salvador Garza says, “We have always had a high regard for FESPA, and we are honoured to become part of FESPA’s international member community. Being an associate member of FESPA means SIDGAP can now offer our members a wide range of educational resources and best practice guidelines, as well as providing access to a number of other services that FESPA offers alongside its exhibitions.”

Garza is supported in his role as chairman and president of SIDGAP by a team of ten board directors, including external vice president George Lora, internal vice president Carlos Malibiran and Secretary Wilfredo Chua.

Members of SIDGAP will now benefit from FESPA’s range of educational, training and best-practice development tools, and have the opportunity to participate in many international projects currently in development. In turn, FESPA will enjoy stronger links with the Philippine printing industry, facilitating information exchange on developing technologies and applications, new products, environmental regulations and market trends.

Nigel Steffens, CEO of FESPA, comments, “We are delighted to welcome SIDGAP to FESPA’s global family. The Philippine screen printing industry is rapidly growing, and its digital printing industry is booming. This massive growth has seen the Philippines becoming a player in the global screen and digital market, and FESPA can now offer SIDGAP members the opportunity to expand and excel even further.”

“The Asia-Pacific region as a whole is a significant force in the global screen and digital printing markets, and FESPA is committed to expanding its reach and influence into this region in cooperation with our associate members, as evidenced by the launch of our FESPA Asia-Pacific exhibition in Thailand (BITEC, Bangkok, 28th -30th November 2008). We believe that this important partnership with SIDGAP will be mutually beneficial, and very much look forward to working with our new associate member in the months ahead.
