MediaSpan, the leading provider of digital content management, online marketing, and national advertising solutions for over 4,000 local media properties, announced that the East Bay newspaper group is fully live on its Jazbox system.
“The fact that we were able to roll out so many seats in such a short amount of time is a credit to MediaSpans staff and management,” said Kevin Keane, Executive Editor of the Bay Area News Group-East Bay. “The service from MediaSpan has been outstanding, top to bottom.” On-site installation began mid-November, with the final East Bay section going live just six months later, in mid-May. A total of 324 seats were deployed. “The implementation was complex, with mobile properties involved in nine different locations, all using information from one common database. Overall, it was a tremendous success,” said Keane.
“For the past year, MediaNews Group has been working to consolidate content management among its Bay Area Newspaper Group, with a shared-coverage editorial process and common service centers,” explained Dr. F.R. Campagnoni, MediaSpan Chief Executive Officer. “Jazbox is the perfect system – robust enough to handle technical complexities, while flexible enough for day-to-day newsroom demands.”
Last October, MediaNews Group made the decision to employ MediaSpans Jazbox content management system to power newsrooms in their Bay Area News Group, which includes the East Bay and South Bay papers. The East Bay papers include the Oakland Tribune, the Contra Costa Times, the Tri-Valley Herald, the Alameda Journal, The Argus (Fremont), The Daily Review (Hayward), and the San Mateo County Times, as well as other dailies and weeklies.
