Krones decides on share buyback programme

The Executive Board of Krones AG, following authorisation by the AGM held on 18 June 2008, decided on 21 January 2009 to purchase on the stock market up to 3,159,307 of the company’s own shares, equivalent to up to 10 per cent of the equity capital.

Catalyst to curtail newsprint and market pulp production

Catalyst Paper announced today that, to match production with orders, it will take curtailments at its Crofton and Elk Falls mills in British Columbia as well as its Snowflake, Arizona mill. This will remove 55,000 tonnes of newsprint from production in the first quarter.

Sanoma’s Net Sales 2008 over EUR 3 Billion, EBIT Excluding Non-Recurring Items Almost at the Previous Year’s Level. Impairment Loss in Magazine Operations in CEE and Russia due to Changes in Market Conditions

Sanoma recognises an impairment loss of some EUR 78 million on the goodwill and immaterial rights of Sanoma Magazines International on the fourth quarter of 2008, due to weakened growth expectations. The recognition of the loss will not affect the Group’s dividend policy or ability to pay dividends.
