Metso’s Annual General Meeting, March 31, 2009: President and CEO Jorma Eloranta’s review

At Metso Corporation’s Annual General Meeting starting at 3:00 p.m. today, President and CEO Jorma Eloranta reports that Metso’s operating environment and business at the beginning of the year have been as anticipated: “Our January-February net sales and profit development support this year’s financial performance estimate we gave in conjunction with the publication of our financial statements.”

CANON U.S.A. PRESIDENT AND CEO JOE ADACHI PROMOTED TO SENIOR MANAGING DIRECTOR OF THE CANON INC. BOARD OF DIRECTORS; CANON U.S.A. EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT SEYMOUR LIEBMAN APPOINTED EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF CANON INC.

In Tokyo today, Joe Adachi, president and chief executive officer, Canon U.S.A., Inc., was promoted to senior managing director and Seymour Liebman, executive vice president, chief administrative officer & general counsel, Canon U.S.A., was appointed an executive officer of Canon Inc. by the Company’s shareholders and Board of Directors. Both executives will continue their leadership posts at Canon U.S.A., in addition to their expanded roles with Canon Inc.

Rolf Koerfer Elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Continental AG

The Supervisory Board of Continental AG, Hanover, elected the lawyer Rolf Koerfer as its new chairman at an extraordinary meeting on Friday in Hanover. The 51-year-old thus succeeds Dr. Hubertus von Grünberg, who resigned on March 6.

Metso has concluded employee negotiations regarding reduction of personnel at Metso Paper Karlstad AB, Sweden. As a result the company will reduce 45 persons. The company’s operations are part of Metso’s Tissue business line and Paper business line.
