NYPA, Alcoa Partner to Save Hundreds of Jobs at Massena, NY Operations Despite Major Production Curtailment

In an innovative example of a private corporation and a public entity partnering to retain jobs during the economic downturn, the New York Power Authority (NYPA) and Alcoa (NYSE:AA), the N.Y.-based aluminum company, today announced they have reached an agreement that will save hundreds of jobs at Alcoas smelters in Massena, New York in the near-term and preserve hundreds more under its planned long-term modernization project at the plant.

ABITIBIBOWATER ANNOUNCES DELAY IN FILING ANNUAL FINANCIAL STATEMENTS IN CANADA

AbitibiBowater Inc. and AbitibiBowater Canada Inc. (collectively, the “Companies”) announced today that they are not able to file their annual financial statements, accompanying management’s discussion and analysis (“MD&A”) and related CEO and CFO certifications (collectively, the “2008 Annual Financial Statements”) for the financial year ended December 31, 2008, within the period prescribed for the filing of such documents under Parts 4 and 5 of National Instrument 51-102 and pursuant to National Instrument 52-109, namely within 90 days of year-end. The Companies expect to file the 2008 Annual Financial Statements shortly.
