In yesterday’s stock exchange notification, Norske Skog stated that the gross operating earnings in the first quarter of 2009 would be significantly weaker than in the fourth quarter of 2008, but somewhat better than in the first quarter of 2008. This is mainly due to low volumes in the beginning of 2009.
Ball Corporation (NYSE:BLL) today reported first quarter net earnings of $69.5 million, or 73 cents per diluted share, on sales of $1.59 billion, compared to $83.8 million, or 85 cents per diluted share, on sales of $1.74 billion in the first quarter of 2008.
Danaher Corporation (NYSE: DHR) announced results for the quarter ended April 3, 2009. Net earnings for the first quarter of 2009 were $237.7 million, or $0.72 per diluted share, down 13% versus net earnings per diluted share for the first quarter of 2009.
