Metso will establish an HR service center in Tampere, Finland, to serve its units in Europe. Once the European center has been launched by the end of 2009, regional HR service centers will be established in North America, South America and Asia in 2010-2011.
Lexmark International, Inc. (NYSE:LXK) today announced financial results for the first quarter of 2009. First quarter revenue was $944 million, down 20 percent compared to revenue of $1.18 billion last year as weak global economic conditions negatively impacted demand for both hardware and supplies.
DuPonts first quarter 2009 earnings were USD .54 per share, in-line with guidance.
The companys 2009 earnings outlook has been revised downward to a range of USD 1.70 to USD 2.10 per share, excluding any significant items.
The Agriculture & Nutrition segment performance was strong, with sales growth of 6 percent and earnings growth of 8 percent despite significant currency headwinds. Performance was driven by higher North American volumes and significant seed pricing gains.

Metso has made decisions on adjustment measures in many of its units during the early part of the year. In the first quarter, Metso plans to recognize in its operating profit about EUR 22 million of nonrecurring expenses related to these adjustment measures.
