Bemis Company, Inc. (NYSE: BMS) today announced that late yesterday it received a request for additional information and documentary material, often referred to as a “Second Request,” from the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) in connection with its Hart-Scott-Rodino regulatory review of Bemis proposed acquisition of the Food Americas operations of Alcan Packaging from Rio Tinto plc, announced on July 5, 2009. Bemis will continue to work cooperatively with the DOJ and expects the transaction to close by the end of 2009.
NewPage Corporation (“NewPage”) announced today that it has priced its private placement offering (the “Notes Offering”) of $1.7 billion in aggregate principal amount of 11.375% Senior Secured Notes due 2014 (the “Notes”). The Notes will be sold at a price equal to 93.996% of their face value with an effective yield of 13%. The Notes Offering is expected to close on September 30, 2009, subject to satisfaction or waiver of customary closing conditions.

The scholarship program promotes the document management and graphic communications industries by supporting future professionals — one of the primary goals of EDSF — through education and networking opportunities. The monetary rewards range from $1,000 to $5,000.
