EFI Brings Sign & Display Graphics Businesses Innovative Productivity Enhancements
Wednesday 22. October 2025 - Electronics For Imaging, Inc. (EFI) today announced that it will showcase multiple productivity and automation enhancements designed to increase the value and versatility of its broad portfolio of production-level digital inkjet printers at PRINTING United Expo 2025.
New features and value-added options open opportunities for sign and display producers to increase profitability, expand applications, win new customers, and more.
The company will also display a wide range of printed samples from its sign and display graphics, packaging, and textile printers, offering attendees inspiration and insight into new ways to grow their businesses and attract new customers. PRINTING United Expo is scheduled for October 22 to 24 in Orlando, Florida, and EFI will be in booth 1542.
“We are looking forward to the PRINTING United Expo, the premier printing show in the United States,” said Frank Pennisi, EFI’s CEO. “It is an important opportunity to meet existing
customers, speak with prospective customers, collaborate with partners, and share our story
with the industry. This year, we’re showcasing an array of new technologies and enhancements that make our portfolio even more productive, helping customers offer new applications and strengthen the profitability of their operations. EFI remains dedicated to delivering the industry’s most sustainable printing solutions, supporting our customers and their customers in achieving their sustainability goals.”
EFI booth highlights
Visitors to EFI’s booth 1542 will see live demonstrations of the latest innovations across EFI’s
industry-leading portfolio and learn how they can translate into greater efficiencies and business growth opportunities. Visitors will see:
• The EFI VUTEk Q3h XP high-speed hybrid flatbed/roll-fed LED printer that combines
exceptional image quality, flexible production-level throughput, and advanced media
handling and automation options, making it an ideal solution for businesses looking to
address labor challenges and cost-reduction initiatives. NEW AT THE SHOW: The VUTEk
Q3h XP printer will feature new software that delivers faster RIP times and improved
smoothing levels.
• The 3.2-meter EFI VUTEk M3h hybrid flatbed/roll-fed LED printer designed for print
providers moving into higher-volume production, and looking for new capabilities to lower
costs, increase margins, accelerate turnarounds, and enable printing on a broader range of
flexible and rigid applications. NEW AT THE SHOW: Three new options now available for
the VUTEk M3h printer will be demonstrated at the show:
1. Media edge guides (MEG) for efficient hold-down of corrugated boards and other
uneven rigid materials.
2. Dual split shaft unwinder/winder for efficient two-up roll printing.
3. Clear ink, which can be printed simultaneously with white and in line with the other
colors, for full flood or spot decorative effects, showcasing how added gloss or texture
can elevate print value.
4. New software feature to enable multi-layer printing up to nine layers in any color,
including white and clear ink.
• The 3.5-meter EFI VUTEk X3r roll-to-roll LED printer engineered for high-volume production of indoor and outdoor sign and display graphics. The VUTEk X3r printer integrates
automation, software, and hardware to support minimal operator supervision of print jobs
and an efficient print-to-finished-graphic workflow system. NEW AT THE SHOW: EFI will
preview several new automation and control innovations to boost throughput, including two
new inline finishing options available for the VUTEk X3r and X5r printers:
1. Automatic Y-slitters reduce manual work, eliminate bottlenecks, and ensure every job
is cut cleanly and consistently by automating the slitting process directly on the printer.
The adjustment and operation of the slitters’ position along the printer table, according to
image edge, is controlled via the printer’s front-end software. Once in operation, the
Y-slitter trims excess margins during printing and rolls up the trimmed remnants.
2. Smart Slide enables efficient, neat, and automatic collection and stacking of finished
printed and cut sheets (EFI X-cutter option required). It provides smooth handling and
consistent stacking, and reduces operator workload, making finishing faster, cleaner,
and more efficient. The device folds inside the printer when not in use, so roll-to-roll or
free-fall printing is not interrupted. Smart Slide installation takes less than one minute.
• A preview of EFInsight cloud-based intelligence for sign and display graphics printing.
Introduced for use with EFI Nozomi single-pass printers, EFInsight is expanding to EFI’s
shuttle-based, multi-pass platforms, starting with EFI roll-to-roll printers. EFInsight is a
powerful, cloud-based service platform designed to track and analyze key performance
indicators. With real-time data collected directly from the printer, the platform provides rich,
reliable insights essential for improving production efficiency and maximizing overall system
performance. EFInsight will be commercially available for EFI roll-to-roll printers in 2026.
Visitors to EFI’s booth will also have access to interactive touchscreen kiosks to explore even
more products from its packaging, sign and display, and textile portfolios, as well as hundreds of printed samples in its applications gallery.
“We are excited to be showing textile samples – including ecoDenim, babywear, non-woven
fabrics, fashion accessories and more – and samples produced on our EFI Nozomi single-pass digital inkjet press, optimized for both signs and display graphics as well as traditional
corrugated packaging applications,” said Ken Hanulec, EFI vice president, worldwide marketing. “No matter where customers are in their business development and digital journey, EFI offers the technology to help them reach the next level of productivity and profitability.”
