Mondi to highlight consumer packaging portfolio at Packaging Innovations Birmingham 2017
Wednesday 01. March 2017 - Mondis consumer packaging business is presenting its enhanced flexible packaging portfolio at Packaging Innovations in Birmingham from 01 to 02 March.
The highlights of the recently extended portfolio will be presented on two booths (F19 and C28) and include a wide range of products developed with a focus on ease of use and enhanced shelf-appeal. In line with the strategy to grow its global food packaging solutions business, the company will showcase two exciting additions to its UK portfolio following the acquisition of Excelsior.
As the pace of consumers lives continues to pick up, so does the demand for pre-prepared and on-the-go meal solutions. As the third biggest market in Europe for flexible packaging, the UK is forecast to continue growing and hit 1,850 million in 2020.[1] In order to address the growing appetite, Mondis consumer goods packaging business presents its proven portfolio of easy opening solutions. Visitors to stand F19 can experience the advantage of an easy and controlled opening of the CornerPack bag with semi-circular scoring lines in the pack corner, making it easier to dispense the product. To help consumers enjoy the product for longer by retaining its taste and aroma, Mondi also presents StripePack, a convenient solution to address the growing demand among snack brands for easy-open packaging.
For UK brands looking to attract attention on the shelf, Mondi offers at stand F19 the customisable paper touch solutions which provide a unique look and feel. ArtPacks natural paper-like finish protects the product with a flexible film acting as a barrier, whereas PaperPacks window shows the products contents and is a real stand-out on the shelf. Visitors to the stand can also see the highly specialised packaging solutions for the ice cream industry, including cone sleeves and lids, push-up or squeeze-up tubes and lids, as well as cups and multipacks. Developed for deep freezing, they protect the packed product from external influences and are easy to use for even the youngest consumers.
Another exciting addition to the family is SteamFast – the global leading micro-steam cooking system. Thanks to its valve, this product maintains pack pressure during cooking, saving up to 30% cooking time and improving nutritional value, taste and texture. The product is now available from Mondi, following the acquisition of UK-based Excelsior, an international supplier of unique packaging technology for microwave steam cooking. At stand C28, Mondi will also display its additional portfolio of specialised CookTECH products, introducing the innovative GravureTECH solution – the companys exciting new approach to the original high-definition printing process. Also on display for the very first time is the EcoFresh pouch – a new extension of the market leading POUCHTECH product range.
Ulf Wienböker, COO Consumer Goods Packaging, commented: “Consumers increasingly demand convenient, long-lasting and flavorful food and our expanded product portfolio – through the Excelsior acquisition – allows us to better meet customers needs. Alongside our established easy-to-open and paper touch solutions, the added microwavable steam cooking and ice cream solutions are an important step in keeping customers ahead of the industry curve.
