Ricoh UK to show new RICOH THETA spherical scene imaging camera and Ultra-Short Throw multi-media projector at CrossMedia 2013

Friday 25. October 2013 - "Ricoh UK has announced today it will be showing an additional two new innovative products from its broad consumer and business technology range at CrossMedia 2013. Launched in September this year, the RICOH THETA is a groundbreaking device - the world's first mass-produced imaging device that encapsulates fully spherical panoramic scenes with one shot. This handheld device features a proprietary ultra-small twin-lens folded optical system that captures the scene around, above and below the device in one shot for unprecedented, fully spherical images.

Fitting easily in a pocket or the palm of a hand, the slim, lightweight RICOH THETA is a go-anywhere device. The THETA can be synchronised with smartphones, and then images immediately transmitted via Wi-Fi and viewed with a dedicated free app. The app also allows images to be pinched, swiped or rotated to edit size, shape and composition. Images uploaded to theta360.com and can be shared on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr, as well as Microsoft’s Photosynth.
Ricoh’s new Ultra-Short Throw Projectors will also be on show at CrossMedia. These new projectors are now the world’s lightest and closest-range projectors, with a ‘throw’ distance of just 11.7cm. This enables the projector to be placed just inches from the wall, ensuring that no shadows, noise or glare comes between the quality of the projected image and the wall. The Ultra-Short Throw Projectors can be used to display images of up to 80 inches in meeting rooms, classrooms, museum displays, restaurants, bars, shops or window displays – anywhere there is a wall or flat surface to project upon. And, at just 3kg with a space-saving vertical design, it’s compact and light, so can be used as easily-transportable home cinema or for off-site business meetings.
The new products will feature along side’s Ricoh’s print production-focused solutions including MarcomCentral and Clickable Paper. MarcomCentral is a SaaS-based marketing asset repository that allows companies to build and store print and non-print based assets (such as logos and marketing kits) from a centralised site. The advanced cross media architecture delivers a broad range of features and capabilities, such as web hosting and personalised print, to support businesses that are aiming to grow their value-added-services and take advantage of the expanding digital marketing opportunity; as well as driving incremental print volumes and higher margins.
Ricoh’s ‘Clickable Paper’ solution has recently successfully completed stage one of its first commercial trial with Barnwell Print and its customer, regional publisher, Just Regional. Both companies will have representatives on the stand running live demonstrations showing how this interactive, intelligent solution is working for them.
