OMRON Releases Head Unit for UV Curing System
Wednesday 28. August 2013 - Improves Illumination by 140% (*1) over Conventional OMRON Product -- Industry's Top Class (*2)
OMRON Corporation (TSE: 6645, ADR: OMRNY) announced on August 27 the release on September 2 of the following head unit series of the UV (ultraviolet) curing system.
— The UV curing system head unit ZUV — H__MC series
This new head unit series for the UV curing system improved illumination by 140% compared to our previous models with the same price. The ZUV series has reduced an environmental impact by adopting LED light sources.
The UV curing system is a system to cure UV curing resin (adhesive) by irradiating UV light. It is mainly used to bond optical components and structural elements in manufacturing processes, such as electronic components and digital appliances.
A lamp system was originally used for the UV curing system, but high power consumption and the disposal of the mercury lamps that occurs with each replacement were problems in reducing the environmental impact, since the high pressure mercury lamp was used for the light source in the lamp system. In order to solve these problems, OMRON released the UV curing system ZUV series with an LED light source in 2005, contributing to reduction of the environmental burden (CO2 and mercury) in the UV curing process.
The newly released head unit uses a new UV LED with much greater brightness, resulting in the 140% improvement in illumination compared to our previous models. These increases can shorten irradiation time to cure resin, and contribute to improving productivity.
The system inherits OMRON’s unique heat dissipation structure, “Smart Canyon,” which has been utilized in the current lineup of head units.
This structure avoids rises in temperature, which directly influences the service life of the LED. In addition, it also inherits the light control function that turns off the light when illumination is not needed. This function extends the service life of the LED and reduces running costs.

Under the following conditions: 100% irradiation power, 25 C room temperature, and with heat sink. Values are for reference only. The illumination varies depending on factors such as the ambient environment, installation conditions, the service life of parts, and differences between parts. Continually check the curing status to ensure that there is room for error in the illumination.
