Key to folding carton finishing in digital printing

Thursday 01. August 2013 - KAMA to present innovative stripping and blanking unit SBU on the HP Indigo booth at Print 2013

No tools needed: German machine manufacturer KAMA will be presenting an innovative stripping and blanking unit (SBU) at the Print 2013 at the booth of HP Indigo (1241, South hall). The new KAMA SBU features programmable rollers to strip waste and blank printed boxes without the need for expensive tools or manual processes. The new development joins the highly flexible KAMA ProCut and DC die cutting and foiling machines with camera-based automatic registration for a complete, digital compatible finishing solution.
Features designed for digital prints
The German based machine manufacturer KAMA was amongst the first to develop specific solutions for the needs of digital print finishing. “The first challenge is to keep the register precision throughout the entire finishing process. We solved this with our AutoRegister which registers each sheet to a print mark with highest precision”, explains KAMA CEO Marcus Tralau. “Secondly, digital printing needs flexible finishing solutions to come out profitably with short and medium-sized runs. A big advantage of our new stripping and blanking unit is that it works with programmable rollers and does not need job-specific tools. This allows quick and flexible job changes saving time and costs – a valuable benefit also for conventionally printed jobs.”
Solutions for formats B3 and B2
The KAMA ProCut and DC die cutters with AutoRegister and SBU are available for B3 and B2 format (21 and 30 inches) and match perfectly with digital printing presses e.g. with the HP Indigo 5600/7600 and 10000/30000. Applications include hot foil stamping, blind embossing, die cutting/creasing at highest register precision, completed by stripping, blanking and shingled stream delivery on the SBU.
Absolute: new distributor for KAMA solutions
For folding and gluing applications, KAMA will be showing the multi-talented ProFold 74 folder-gluer in the booth of Absolute Printing Equipment (3208, South hall), KAMA’s new distribution partner in the United States. The folder-gluer with the patented tool mounting system will be running a capacity folder and a straight-line box at the show.
