C3imaging Made Press Ink Keys Control System Investment

Friday 26. July 2013 - Compose Systems announced that it has supplied and installed an IS Connect press ink keys control system at C3imaging, Colchester.

Compose Systems are pleased to announce that it has supplied and installed its IS Connect press ink keys control system at C3imaging. Steve Ward, Production Manager at C3imaging was recently looking at ways to breathe new life into a 5 colour Heidelberg SM72 press and to bring it into line with his other new press fleet. He spoke to Kevin Caughtry of Compose Systems initially about their InkScript CIP3 solution and was also introduced to their IS Connect press closed-loop ink keys control system.
“After looking at how the system will provide CIP3 data online to the press console, presetting the ink keys and maintaining consistent colour on the print run by scanning the press control guide with a Techkon SpectroDrive, I can immediately see how the system will save us time and costs in more ways than one. From my calculation I am convinced that the system self fund in a very short time.”
C3imaging was able to trial the system before confirming the purchase. “Since installing the IS Connect System we are seeing the benefits of less wastage, shorter make-ready times achieved in no more than 2 pulls over less than 200 sheet; as well as more consistent colour throughout the run, from the first sheet to the last one.”
Steve Ward is delighted with the purchase, “We are now achieving consistent colour faster, because the IS Connect System is making the ink key adjustments, allowing the press minder more time to concentrate on what is being printed; the closed-loop system picks up any colour shift much quicker than manual reading of colour bars by eyes. It is one of the easiest investments to make as the system pays for itself in a very short time, I cannot imagine coping without it now.”
Kevin Caughtry added, “We are very pleased to be able to meet the needs of C3imaging. During this current economic climate many printers hesitate in making investments to their aging equipment and think that expensive new press investment is the only option; in fact this is not the case!
