HEARST NEWSPAPERS NAMES SCOTT COLONTONIO SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES FOR HEARST CONNECTICUT MEDIA GROUP

Wednesday 03. July 2013 - Hearst Newspapers announced today that Scott Colontonio, 34, has been named senior vice president of sales for Hearst Connecticut Media Group. The announcement was made by Hearst Newspapers President Mark Aldam and Hearst Connecticut Group Publisher Paul Farrell.

In this new position, which he will begin on July 8, Colontonio will be responsible for print and digital advertising sales across Hearst’s stable of four daily newspapers, seven weekly papers and 11 websites in Connecticut.
“Scott is uniquely qualified to lead our diversified Connecticut Media Group given his extensive digital media and sales management experience,” Aldam said. “We are excited to welcome him to Hearst Newspapers and are confident Scott will be a great leader for our Connecticut team.”
Colontonio joins Hearst from Google where he was head of local sales for the commerce division since October 2011. At Google, he led a large sales organization spread across the U.S.—hiring, training and retaining high-performance local sales teams. Colontonio was responsible for the development of strategies aimed at growing the small- and mid-sized business segment.
Prior to Google, Colontonio served as director of sales for the national launch of Patch/AOL. He led the expansion of the Patch Media sales organization and was instrumental in driving local advertising sales within the retail, entertainment and automotive categories.
“Scott’s advertising and digital sales leadership will be of great benefit to the Hearst Connecticut Media Group and our customers throughout the region,” Farrell added.
“I look forward to working with the Hearst advertising staff in Connecticut and becoming part of a growing media company,” Colontonio said.
Colontonio has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Iona College.
