Eastman Opens New Large-Scale Application Facility

Friday 31. May 2013 - Eastman Company UK Limited opened a dedicated large-scale application facility at its European Technical Centre, located in Liverpool in the northwest of England. (The Centre provides technical services, application development, and research and development for a number of business units.)

According to Brendan Boyd, Eastman Technical Director for Additives and Functional Products, “Studying architectural coatings under large-scale real-life conditions expands our understanding of application performance of Eastman products used in architectural paints. It also enables Eastman to generate new technologies that meet the latest customer demands”.
Limited laboratory tests are not always indicative of large-scale applications. This large-scale testing facility enables Eastman to further understand the application performance of its growing range of coalescents, Eastman Texanolester alcohol and Eastman Optifilm enhancer 300. It also helps Eastman customers understand the application properties of the company’s latest additive, Eastman Optifilm OT1200, a low-VOC product that replaces volatile glycols for improved workability and longer open time over a range of application conditions. These products are included in Eastman’s Additives and Functional Products business segment.
