Autobond appoints IMPRYMA as Spanish agent
Tuesday 21. May 2013 - Autobond, the UK-based laminator and digital inkjet spot UV manufacturer, has appointed Grupo IMPRYMA as its distribution agent in Spain. The British company is looking to build on its worldwide reputation for building quality, innovative, and robust machinery.
John Gilmore, Managing Director of Autobond, says: “It is clear from the high number of global sales we have received over the last year that the work of local distributors is crucial to success. It is paramount for our customers to have local service and support for their machines.”
Gilmore continues: “The Spanish market is important for Autobond because of the consistent demand for high quality lamination and the fast-growing interest in other added value applications that our machines can produce. We were thrilled by the large number of Spanish visitors to our drupa stand last year despite the economic challenges the country has faced.”
World-renowned for outstanding build quality, innovative engineering and reliability, Autobond has been developing machinery for 35 years. The family-run company launched its first digital inkjet spot UV device in 2011, and at drupa 2012 Autobond debuted the entry-level Micro 52 SD TP B2 laminator, the high productivity 120 m/min Mini 105 TPHS B1 laminator and an offline 52 SUV spot UV inkjet machine.
Félix Prieto, Managing Director of Grupo IMPRYMA, comments: “Autobond is recognised worldwide as being a quality manufacturer and this is something that complements Grupo IMPRYMA’s portfolio. It also enables us to offer finishing solutions to digital web printers, in addition to sheet fed offset and digital printers. There is a steady market in Spain for laminating and encapsulation machinery, and for added value services – such as inkjet spot UV varnishing – that can help customers stand out in their field and differentiate their business by producing stunning quality print.”
“Autobond’s capability to offer two-sided lamination in one pass, PSA magnet and floor graphic applications, and in-line spot UV systems has really begun to turn heads. The inkjet spot UV technology in particular is attracting considerable attention, from both printers who would normally outsource such work, to trade finishers who are looking to use it for shorter runs. Furthermore, we have received requests for Autobond’s multi-purpose laminator that runs thin and thick film, which further reflects the increasing trend for Spanish customers requiring the capability to switch between processes depending on end-user demand.”
Prieto believes the relationship between the two companies will bring great benefits to the Spanish market, he explains: “Immediately after we spoke to Autobond, we knew we wanted to work with the company. Autobond has done well in building up a loyal customer base in Spain with both printers and trade finishers, and is now an industry benchmark for quality and robust technology. Our customers are delighted that a distributor with our reputation and extensive experience in finishing will be promoting and supporting Autobond in the Spanish market.”
Autobond’s Gilmore is equally enthused and confident about the deal: “We’re delighted to have Grupo IMPRYMA on board. We both share the same vision of the Spanish market and we envisage that, by working together, we can ensure our Spanish customers have the best technology, service and support available to help them service the fast-emerging demand in Spain for added value print.”
