Cupcake Digital and AG Properties Partner to Create Berry Special Enhanced Story Apps Based on the Beloved Strawberry Shortcake Television Series
Tuesday 07. May 2013 - Cupcake Digital kicks off the summer in style by collaborating with AG Properties, the intellectual property and outbound licensing division of American Greetings Corporation (NYSE: AM), to bring Berry Bitty City to life in a series of interactive mobile appisodes based on the berry sweet world of Strawberry Shortcake. Parents will love sharing memories of this lovable character and her berry best friends with their kids, as they introduce them to interactive stories filled with humor, friendship, teamwork and optimism.
The Strawberry Shortcake deluxe apps will be available in the iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and NOOK Apps stores.
“So many little girls have grown up with Strawberry Shortcake since the 80s, and they have passed that love of her sweet world along to their own children. The enduring qualities of these characters are so timeless, that we are pleased to be able to bring them to this new medium,” said Susan Miller, President of Cupcake Digital. “The recent animated series featuring the adventures of Strawberry and her friends has reached global proportions, and it makes perfect sense for us to bring her entertaining stories to life for young readers, while also providing valuable learning moments parents will appreciate within the app experience.”
Cupcake Digital continues to create high-quality enhanced story apps that feature such hallmarks as three modes of reading, synched narration and text highlighting designed to help kids recognize words and sounds, educator-vetted teaching games to get kids practicing skills such as number, shape and letter recognition that follow Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and creative play opportunities. Every Strawberry Shortcake app also has fun-filled tap-and-play interactions, danceable music videos, and a special Grown-Up’s Corner created to guide conversation, reading comprehension, and shared screen time with parents.
“The team at Cupcake Digital understands the essence of Strawberry Shortcake, and we are very pleased to be working with them to introduce an entirely new digital app experience for the brand across multiple platforms,” said Derek Roberto, vice president of new media at AG Properties. “Loyal fans of all ages will love how we’ve captured the friendship, humor and great lessons from the show.”
