Nikmas conquers the Russian napkins market thanks to OMET
Thursday 21. March 2013 - Established in 1998 at Chelyabinsk, large industrial Russian city, 2,000 km south-east of the capital Moscow, with approximately 350 employees Nikmas has become in less than 15 years one of the largest manufacturer of paper napkins and other disposable products for the sanitary sector in the Russian Federation.
Nikmas produces over 180 different products, 100% made of cellulose with no waste of material: the paper material is one or two plies, and the main products are toilet paper, kitchen paper rolls, paper towels and paper napkins for the table market and household cleaning. Next to own products under the brands “Picnic” and “Zebra”, Nikmas mainly works for the private labels of the Russian main distribution chains such as “Pyatyorochka”, “Magnet” and “Molniya”.
Nikmas manufactures approximately 1,000 tons of paper products per month, trying to meet the requirements of both the low-cost and high-quality markets and compete with foreign manufacturers who try to enter the national Russian market. “Besides the capacity to make quality products at competitive prices,” states Oleg Iost, General Manager of Nikmas, “we know that the key to our success is our sense of responsibility towards the customer in order to create a loyal and flexible cooperation.” Another key of success of Nikmas is the attention to the environment. The company has put into place a complete recycling cycle through specially installed tooling that recover and reprocess all the wasted materials.
Nikmas is today a consolidated reality in the Russian napkin market also thanks to the installation of an OMET machine in 2011, beside having a solid production of toilet paper rolls and paper towels on Chinese and Italian machinery.
“It has been an ongoing growth after the first years in which we penetrated the regional market” continues Oleg Iost. “We have now gradually gained an important position on the inland market and we are the reference company in the Siberian region.” Aiming at keeping this leading position and the competitiveness of their production, Nikmas is continuously investing in industrial technology to reach important targets: the diversification of the product range, the increase of the production quality and the supply of a careful service to the customers.
In view of this development on the technological level, Nikmas started looking a few years ago at high-level foreign machines that could guarantee an elevated quality combined with important production volumes. In 2011 they purchased the first TV 503 by OMET aimed at reducing the staff dedicated to production. “The advantages offered by OMET machines are stability in production and high-quality performances on products next to a careful post-sales service, which is not always delivered by European suppliers,” continues Mr. Iost, “OMET kept faithful to their reputation of a serious and respectful company. We feel satisfied with choosing OMET as a partner.”
In November 2007 Nikmas received the quality certification for the realization of paper products for families and healthcare. The rules to achieve this certification are very strict, therefore the company is considered to be extremely reliable and technologically evolved, thus making consumers be very sure about their brands. Further and more important certifications were obtained in 2011, year in which Nikmas won an international acknowledgement and golden medal in Eurasia for the quality and popularity of their products.
