Mohn Media Produces “Lonely Planet Traveller”
Wednesday 13. February 2013 - "'Lonely Planet' is the most prestigious brand in the world when it comes to travel guides", says Thorsten Terhechte, who is responsible for the new product together with Lutz Hammermüller in Mohn Media's magazines product line.
The ambitious magazine project was launched at the end of last year. The Hamburg publisher Life! Magazin of Rolf and Anne Coppenrath publishes the title.
The attention lent to the first issue war very large already. “This is a brand with enormous charisma which electrifies a large number of travelers. We already felt this effect when we were preparing the first issue,” says Thorsten Terhechte.
The magazine originated in England, and it is now published in several other countries as well. The license for the German market which Life! Magazin acquired is the twelfth edition worldwide. The first publication date was 12 December 2012. What’s special about “Lonely Planet Traveller” is that it is both a traditional travel magazine with reportages about exciting hotspot destinations and a magazine for discoverers with 3D graphics, knowledge contributions and lots of information about new and interesting issues throughout the world. This concept is reflected in the printing technique, according to Hammermüller. “The magazine’s appearance is always lush. There are special issues, banderoles, stampings and perforations. In the run-up to the market introduction, we also produced a 20-page reading sample in DIN A5 format with a print run of more than 500,000 copies,” says the Mohn Media employee.
The large range of design elements was decisive for choosing Mohn Media as a partner for the production. Rolf Coppenrath considers Mohn Media to be an excellent service provider which ideally matches Life! Magazin. “We are delighted to be working with Mohn Media. The speed, competence and quality along with the broad spectrum of services in Gütersloh are absolutely compelling. Mohn Media has become a partner who offers valuable assistance with the production and is thus more than just a printer.”
