AYLESFORD ASH – PRODUCT STATUS FOR USE IN BLOCK MANUFACTURE

Thursday 24. January 2013 - Aylesford Newsprint Ltd gained End of Waste status for the use of its Papermaking Ash as a cement replacement product in block manufacture.

In November 2012 the Environment Agency confirmed that Aylesford Newsprint Papermaking Ash meets the ‘End of Waste’ test and can now be supplied to Block manufacturing customers as a raw material Product rather than as a Waste to replace cement.
Benefits of the change in status from Waste to Product for Papermaking Ash customers include the ability to accept Ash without the need to have a waste permit or needing to consign the Ash as a waste.
Due to the nature of the Papermaking Ash making it a good partial replacement for cement, Aylesford Newsprint has regularly supplied a number of customers with this material since 1995 and the new Product status of the Ash now makes it more accessible to others.
