Continuous feed market leader offers new business opportunities through expanded portfolio
Hall 2, Stands P06 & B03-04, Hunkeler Innovationdays, Lucerne, 11 to 15 January
Canon, world leader in imaging solutions and, since the acquisition of Océ, market leader in continuous feed printing technology and services, is aiming to inspire visitors to Hunkeler Innovationdays to see the bigger picture and the new business opportunities it offers. With the largest stand at the exhibition, Canon will be demonstrating its commitment to the commercial print market by highlighting innovative print applications and illustrating new ways in which customers can enhance their businesses, increase productivity and turnover and develop new markets.
Digital printing is on a rapid growth curve thanks to its ability to address the key trends of migrating offset volume to digital, on-demand production, automation and high-quality colour applications. High speed colour inkjet printing provides a whole new range of opportunities in areas previously preserved for offset printing only. Canon’s continuous feed inkjet technology supports its ambition of becoming the leading supplier in the graphic arts market.
Showcasing a range of continuous feed and cut sheet production solutions, Canon aims to show visitors why, as a leading provider of integrated and cross-workflow solutions, it is the ideal partner to support their business growth.
Combined technologies offer unique proposition
The centrepiece of the stand will incorporate the Océ ColorStream 3900, the top of Canon’s range of continuous feed inkjet colour printing systems, delivering high quality output at up to 127m per minute. The system will be configured to cover two different application areas:
Roll-to-roll with inline document processing by a Hunkeler Dynamic Puncher and Perforator to show highly variable, transactional/direct mail documents
Roll-to-fold to cut/stack inline production of signature book blocks for offline soft-cover binding and high quality brochures.
In the latter configuration, for example, the Océ ColorStream 3900 will be the live production engine for the inner pages of the show daily magazine, Viscom’s Paper Report, while the cover will be printed on a Canon imagePRESS C7010VPS. This application serves to highlight to graphic arts customers the benefits delivered from a new generation of inks, comprehensive workflow solutions for book and colour document production and the unique productivity gains from being able to print during both ramp up and ramp down times of the print engine.
On the stand, Canon will also be showcasing Océ PRISMA, the industry’s most comprehensive suite of software for both transactional and graphic arts application workflows. Offering easy integration into existing environments it helps protect previous investments and is fully scalable to suit current and future customer demands. It also provides centralised workflow automation and control for maximum efficiency.
Inspiration through applications
A further area of the stand will comprise two Application Galleries, where visitors can find inspiration from a wide range of real-life customer applications, related to the transaction and direct mail markets as well as the graphic arts market. Also available will be customer case studies, which detail how Canon has provided business consultancy, continuous feed solutions and unrivalled service to enable customers to enhance their business results.
Addressing the growth in demand for cross media campaigns, Canon will be demonstrating its cross media value proposition, incorporating DirectSmile to show how print and digital media can be combined to deliver the best return on investment for the marketer. Also on demonstration will be the market-leading web-to-print application, Digital StoreFront, from Canon’s Alliance Partner, EFI.
“I’m delighted to be back at Hunkeler Innovationdays again and for the first time under the Canon brand, after the acquisition of Océ,” says Peter Wolff, Head of the Commercial Print Group, Canon Europe. “As a division of Canon, we are here to demonstrate Canon’s commitment to high-level commercial printing and to support our customers and other visitors by inspiring them to see business opportunities through unique insights in our technology and business propositions. Once customers have identified a specific opportunity, Canon is now better positioned than ever as a one-stop business partner to help them take advantage of it through a vastly expanded product and solutions portfolio and consultancy and service capabilities that are second to none.”
