Research works on Coatex encapsulation technologies awarded “GFP PhD Price”

Wednesday 26. December 2012 - Clémentine Champagne, Research Engineer in Coatex received "The Thesis Price" of GFP (French Group of Polymers Studies and Applications) from Professor Thierry Hamaide, for her work on "Hydrophobic Substances Encapsulation by amphiphilic polyelectrolytes".

Clémentine Champagne’s PhD thesis conducted under scientific guidance of Dr. Michel Cloitre at ESPCI in Paris deepened the know how on the encapsulation technology initiated by Coatex in 2006. Her work, both during her thesis and since then as a Research Engineer in Coatex, has led to a versatile and robust technology. It allows introducing hydrophobic chemicals in a water phase in a relatively simple process. The capability to use various stimuli to release the chemical offers a wide range of applications. This work widens Coatex expertise in waterborne rheology.
The research work was conducted at Matière Molle et Chimie laboratory at ESPCI Paristech. This award recognizes a long-term collaboration between ESPCI and Coatex.
“We are proud of this award won by one of our researchers! This new eco-friendly encapsulation method allows the vectorization of hydrophobic components in different aqueous matrices”, said Olivier Guerret, – Innovation & development Director – Coatex Group. “This is a really versatile Tool. By avoiding solvent, it will help reduce VOC emission. As such it raises the interest of many industries such as Coatings, Construction and Cosmetics”.
