50-Mio-Dollar-business for BDT Media Automation GmbH
Wednesday 12. December 2012 - Printing machine manufacturer HP Indigo will focus on the new BDT paper handling system using the "Tornado Technology"
BDT sees further application possibilities and growth potential
BDT announces the achievement of a 50 million dollar order from HP Indigo, market leader of digital printing machines. The company integrates a paper feeding system developed by BDT into its new printing machines HP Indigo 10000 and 30000. The purchasing agreement runs for four years.
“That we have been able to convince the largest supplier of printing machines with our systems again shows our high innovative strength and guarantees a successful business performance in the next couple of years for our print and media handling business unit”, explains Rolf Ritter, CEO of BDT.
In development projects, BDT is working together with all important manufacturers of the printing industry. “Therefore we know what our customers need”, emphasizes Ritter. That’s the reason why further Tornado Technology based solutions are on BDT’s roadmap. “We see a large market potential and we are able to handle this with the recently secured financial resources from our bond issue”, says Ritter, adding: “We will start selling our modular solution “TIM” in 2013; this allows our customers to implement the Tornado Technology into existing installations. In this way we enlarge our value-added chain.”
The Tornado Technology was presented at the trade fair drupa and met with very positive market response. The system, based upon a whirlwind effect, enables reliable, flexible, gentle and energy-saving transport of paper and other media. In the past, machine manufacturers or printing shops had to use large vacuum pumps to move a sheet of paper. This old-fashioned method is relatively susceptible, space and cost intensive as well as inflexible in case of the handling of different materials. Especially manufacturers of digital printing machines can profit from the Tornado Technology – a worthwhile alternative to existing vacuum technologies. “With the Tornado modules we are able to offer a system that is superior in all matters compared to the old technologies. With this technology we meet the demands of the market”, says Ralf Hipp, Manager of the Print and Media Handling business unit at BDT.
