Konica Minolta helps Chicago-based Healthcare Provider Implement Electronic Health Records
Monday 10. December 2012 - NSi AutoStore's Integrated Workflow, Scanning and Print Solution Simplifies EHR Process Improving Office Efficiencies and Overall Patient Care
Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announces that Chicago-based healthcare practice, Perakis, Resis, Woods and Associates (PRA) has moved to Electronic Health Record (EHR) with integrated workflow, scanning and print solutions support by Konica Minolta’s EnvisionIT Healthcare offering. PRA is able to be more clinically comprehensive and responsive as a result of having electronic records; and increased their ability to provide exceptional patient care.
With Konica Minolta’s EnvisionIT Healthcare offering, PRA implemented NSi Autostore, document capture and workflow software from Notable Solutions, Inc. (NSi); and a combination of eight Fujitsu scanners and six Konica Minolta bizhub multifunctional products (MFPs – print, copy, fax and scan all in one system). With NSi AutoStore integrated directly into the Fujitsu scanners and bizhub MFPs, PRA can scan and route patient documents and records directly from the control panel of their new office equipment to their existing billing software from Synergistic Office Solutions (SOS) and EHR software from RxNT.
“Konica Minolta has been a true partner in helping us move to electronic medical records,” said Paula M. Comm, practice administrator, Perakis, Resis, Woods and Associates. “During the RFP stage, they were the only company to show us a complete working solution that combined hardware and software. The Konica Minolta and NSi representatives worked with us to understand our individual needs and helped us through every step of the implementation and integration with RxNT, and SOS. We are now able to work smarter and more efficiently as a result of the Konica Minolta solution.”
Today, all PRA offices are networked and staff can quickly scan documents into the cloud-based RxNT EHR system directly from the bizhub MFPs or Fujitsu scanners in just a few clicks. Using preconfigured menus from NSi AutoStore, a user can type in the Patient ID number and select the appropriate document category from a drop down menu. These preconfigured menus located on the front panel of the devices maintain consistency across all PRA offices and eliminate errors. This new simplified process now takes staffers 90 seconds to scan in documents compared to five minutes.
PRA is still in the process of making all their records electronic and have completed the process for three of their traveling doctors. Now these doctors only need to carry a small backpack between offices instead of 50 pound suit cases; and can view all their patient records on their laptop, iPad or iPhone. The ability to view patient records on tablets and smartphones has also helped PRA doctors make more informed decisions when responding to patient calls during off hours. The doctor on-call no longer needs to rely solely on what the patient is telling them and can quickly pull up a patient electronic record to make a more accurate and informed decision.
“PRA is an excellent example of how physician offices can implement integrated scanning, printing and workflow solutions to transition to electronic records in an efficient and affordable way,” says Gavin Jordan-Smith, vice president, Solutions and Production Planning, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. Inc. “Customers can count on Konica Minolta EnvisionIT Healthcare to provide a complete solution and the services needed to get up and running quickly in order to maximize the benefits of electronic medical records.”
