Cooley Introduces EnviroFlex PE to European Market at EcoPrint 2012
Tuesday 25. September 2012 - Sustainable, 100% Recyclable PE Material Used to Wrap London's 2012 Iconic Olympic Stadium to be Featured at Eco Print.
Cooley Group, a global designer, developer, and manufacturer of high-profile engineered membranes for some of the world’s highest profile projects, announced that Bryan Rose, Vice President and General Manager, Cooley Commercial Graphics division, will be a speaker at the inaugural EcoPrint Europe 2012 in Berlin, Germany, on Sept 27, 2012. As a contestant in its Great Innovations Competition, Mr. Rose will speak about the company’s newest innovation, EnviroFlex PE – a lightweight, sustainable, 100% recyclable non-PVC media material that offers a 60% lower-carbon footprint than traditional PVC. The EcoPrint event targets the creative and print communities, placing a focus on sustainable print business. Cooley’s range of products can be viewed at Booth # 3-412.
“EcoPrint is the first tradeshow to address sustainability in media, and a perfect platform for Cooley to showcase the performance, quality, and environmental benefits of our first-of-its-kind Enviroflex PE membrane, the same material used to wrap the iconic 2012 London Olympic Stadium,” said Mr. Rose.
Rhode Island-headquartered Cooley Group – already known for leading sustainability efforts in North America by driving the industry to create 50% lighter billboard materials – created the EnviroFlex solution after the company determined it needed to not only go lighter, but even more sustainable with an alternative solution to PVC. EnviroFlex is the world’s first 100% recyclable, 5-meter wide, polyethylene-based print media offering a 60% lower-carbon footprint than PVC. The lightweight material can be melted down and repurposed into a number of diverse applications. Since PE is not made of toxic chemicals like cholorine and phthalates, it is the world’s most reycled plastic and quickly becoming the material of choice for major corporations including Nike, GE, Microsoft, Toyota, Wal-Mart & Apple.
When Dow Chemical Company was looking for partners to help create the most sustainable Olympic Games in history, Cooley’s Enviroflex PE material was chosen to wrap the 2012 Olympic Stadium in London. The wrap quickly became one of the most visible symbols of the 2012 Olympic Games, as well as a worldwide symbol of Dow and Cooley’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and best-in-class performance. The wrap will be recycled following the Games and continue its legacy for years to come.
“Cooley’s commitment to sustainability and social responsibility has been part of our DNA and portfolio of solutions for more than 85 years.” said Cooley Group President and CEO, Dan Dwight. “Innovation and sustainability are not principles, but ever-evolving practices at Cooley. EnviroFlex PE is one great example of the innovation that keeps Cooley – and our global customers — ahead of the curve while helping to protect the world we serve.”
