Wealth of innovations and high stature attendees at PCD 2011

Monday 04. April 2011 - The 7th edition of PCD (Perfumes, Cosmetics & Design) was held on 8 &9 February 2011, in Paris at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie. Over 1,400 participants from some forty countries representing Brand packaging experts and their main packaging suppliers (80 exhibitors) were present.

According to participants, packaging suppliers and representatives of the main perfumes and cosmetics brands, this 7th edition excelled in terms of the wealth of innovations and stature of attendees. The representatives of leading global brands attended the event.
As stressed by Thomas Riou, Bormioli Rocco & Figlio, « PCD is a friendly event that brings together a large number of decision-makers. Its focus on innovation is an important feature that paves the way for work on projects of the future. It is a privileged moment to gain the attention of brand owners. »
For Daniel Saclier, Purchasing Director, Guerlain, LVMH group, « This event is a structure that enables decision-makers to discuss the theme of innovation. PCD drives innovation backed by market trends. I meet my partners and colleagues there. »
The first morning of this two-day programme was set aside for an Innovation Workshop with the active participation of the main cosmetics groups and their packaging suppliers. Alain Béthune and Charles Duclaux, L’OREAL, moderated these workshops on the following themes :

The samples of the future

Innovation and sustainable development : materials, process, finishing, artwork, etc.
This Innovation Workshop was widely acclaimed by participants :

Michel Dupuis and Pascale Marciniak-Davoult, Chanel, chaired the session on perfume packaging, with presentations by EVEA, Derambure Conseil, Cinqpats, Lumson, VPI, SGD, Rexam, Pôle Européen de Plasturgie, CD Cartondruck, Deltasacs – Groupe Pigé, Edelmann, Kurz and Stora Enso.
On the second day, Hervé Bouix, The Estée Lauder Inc., chaired the session on the state of the art in make-up packaging with papers by Geka World, Promens, CEP,Tubex, Neopac, Seidel, SAF, Foboha, Sleever International, Knoll Packaging, Weener Plastic, Dassault Systèmes and Strate College.
This session was followed by lunch attended by particpants, exhibitors and speakers. Every year, PCD attendees stress the easy access, extremely friendly organisation, quality of contacts and exchanges to boost innovation, in addition to the « networking ».
David Petit, Hermès, underscored that « PCD is a very interesting, user-friendly event where one meets all the professionals in our field in addition to our partners.»
Osnat Lustig, Coty, added that, year after year, « PCD grows richer in terms of the quality of attendees and the content of lectures. It is an event not to be missed ! »
To close this second day, the PCD Awards ceremony rewarded the technical feats of packaging experts from award-winning brands.
