Driving Force in Innovation Stays True to Form
Monday 04. April 2011 - "Passion for Innovation" - NORDENIA INTERNATIONAL AG is appearing at Düsseldorf's "Interpack" in May with a hands-on experience of innovation.
The most important trade fair worldwide for the packaging business will see the international film manufacturer and converter – represented by the Halle (Westphalia) site and Plant Steinfeld – present outstanding product innovations from the area of films and flexible, pre-made packaging. NORDENIA introduced the trade fair concept together with the product highlights during a press conference in Steinfeld (March 16, 2011).
On the occasion of “Interpack”, NORDENIA will bring onto the market an internationally unique type of packaging for the building material sector. The company will also present a creative innovation for all types of liquid product and a new kind of foamed film which stands out thanks to its exceptional resource efficiency. The trade fair appearance will be rounded off with the introduction of a flexographic printing process for outstanding, high-definition quality. From May 12-18, approximately 200,000 experts from the packaging sector are expected at “Interpack”, which takes place every three years. NORDENIA can be found at booth 10/A68 at the Düsseldorf trade fair.
“‘Interpack’ is a superb opportunity to present ourselves again as a driving force in innovation in the industry,” emphasizes Alfons Kruse, Manager of NORDENIA DEUTSCHLAND Halle, Plant Steinfeld. With their product developments, the film experts have long been international leaders in the market for pre-made, reclosable packaging. “Our customers appreciate us a lot for our innovative spirit,” reports Kruse. “Over 70 percent of the products manufactured by NORDENIA DEUTSCHLAND Halle at Plant Steinfeld are no older than four years,” he underlines. The plant, established in 2003, manufactures products for customers in Western and Eastern Europe, North America, South Africa, and the Asian region. As a Center of Competence for pre-made, reclosable packaging within the NORDENIA Group, the Steinfeld site manufactures products including small and bulk containers for food, pet food, and garden products.
The newest developments from Steinfeld include two of the product innovations which NORDENIA will be showing at “Interpack”: The newly developed NorVenting system is an internationally unique, flexible type of plastic packaging for building material weighing up to five kilograms. Within the packaging, it has two ventilation systems which have been filed for patent. Plant Manager Alfons Kruse describes its advantages: “In this way, building materials can be transported a lot more safely and stored for longer than in conventional paper packaging.”
With the NorSpoutBag, NORDENIA is presenting innovative flexible packaging with an integrated screw cap for liquid products. A convenient handle on the back of the packaging allows the product to be poured with just one hand. The high printing quality of the premium packaging and the neat appearance with the cap and handle make the NorSpoutBag a real eye-catcher at the point of sale. Additionally, with material savings of up to 80 percent compared to conventional packaging, NorSpoutBag is a particularly sustainable product.
With NorCell, the NORDENIA plant in Halle (Westphalia) is introducing a unique film which can achieve a weight reduction of up to 20 percent in comparison to conventional films, without reducing the thickness of the film. This product innovation arises from close cooperation with partners, NORDENIA TECHNOLOGIES GmbH, and the NORDENIA Care Innovation Team (CIT). “Sustainability and resource efficiency are one of the biggest topics in the packaging sector,” underlines Klaus Wewers, Sales and Marketing Manager at NORDENIA in Halle. “It is not only possible to produce NorCell with noticeably less use of material, this also spares the customer waste disposal charges later on thanks to the reduction in weight.” The use of NorCell is possible with almost all films. The packaging is therefore suited, for example, to wipes, food, pet food, or hygiene articles.
Along with the new products, NORDENIA will also be presenting an innovative process in Düsseldorf: NorPrint enables a dimension in flexographic printing which was, until now, unknown. “High-definition printing is not only a question of repro, it is also a question of the equipment, technical facilities, and know-how of our colleagues in Printing,” explains Klaus Wewers. “At NORDENIA DEUTSCHLAND Halle, we unite all these points and implement print images with maximum color brilliance.” NORDENIA DEUTSCHLAND Halle GmbH, which has been part of the NORDENIA Group since 1987, manufactures high-quality films and packaging with special performance features. The plants in Halle and Steinfeld are both certified in accordance with the DIN EN 15593 (Hygiene), DIN EN ISO 9001 (Quality), and DIN EN ISO 14001 (Environment) norms.
