Photobucket Wins MediaPosts 2011 Appy Awards for “Best Photography App”

Photobucket Corporation, the worlds leading dedicated photo and video sharing service, today announced that the companys “Photobucket for Android” app was recognized as the “Best Photography App” by MediaPost. Photobuckets App was singled out for its patented auto-upload feature. This zero-click feature automatically uploads photos and videos to users Photobucket albums as soon as they are taken. Then, once the media is uploaded to their Photobucket album, users are provided with easy access and seamless sharing across all platforms. The Photobucket upload app is also available for the iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7.
The Appys are all about acknowledging extraordinary mobile applications. The Appys focus on honoring the best apps in a diverse range of categories, from Games and News, to Health & Fitness, Social Networking, Photography and many others. Winners were announced at the Appy Awards gala event on Mon., Feb. 28, 2011 at the conclusion of the first day of MediaPosts annual OMMA Global Conference & Expo in San Francisco.
“We are seeing a huge increase in the number of mobile images and videos being uploaded – in fact, daily uploads originating from Photobucket Mobile applications have increased more than 500% in the last year to the current run rate of 10 to 20 million mobile uploads a month; and with the only auto-uploader in the industry, we expect this trend to continue,” said Tom Munro, CEO of Photobucket. “We are extremely proud of our team for receiving this recognition for our app, and we are thankful to MediaPost for the acknowledgement of our technology innovation.”
In addition, Photobucket is announcing a major initiative – a completely new homepage design. The new homepage gives easy access to all the content users want, including a quick snapshot of photo trends, popular topics and new competitions where they can earn prizes and fame. Photobuckets new design makes it even easier for users to interact with the site and share their photos and videos with the community, while discovering new imagery and content from others based on popular trends and themes.
