Cox Media Group Promotes Alex Taylor to Executive Vice President

Thursday 03. March 2011 - Cox Media Group (CMG) has named Alex Taylor as its new Executive Vice President based at the company's headquarters in Atlanta. Taylor, who most recently was Group Vice President of CMG Ohio, succeeds Doug Franklin, who was promoted to President.

As EVP, Taylor is responsible for overseeing the Atlanta and Dayton media markets that are home to such venerable properties like Atlanta’s WSB-TV; WSB 750 AM/95.5 FM News Talk, B 98.5, 97.1 The River, and Kiss 104.1 FM radio stations, and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution; and Dayton’s WHIO-TV; WHIO AM/FM News Talk, K99.1 FM, and 95.3 FM The Eagle radio stations; and the Dayton Daily News. Previously, he oversaw CMG’s newspaper, television and radio properties in the Dayton and Louisville markets. Specifically, Taylor and his leadership team orchestrated CMG Ohio’s successful industry-leading media integration efforts in Dayton, which culminated in the opening of a new 250,000-square foot Media Center earlier this year.
“Alex and I have worked together for several years, and I am very excited to appoint him to CMG’s senior leadership team where his experience will be an invaluable asset to the company,” said Franklin. “This is a great opportunity to promote such talent from within our company, and Alex will continue to contribute to CMG’s integration strategy and future successes. His passion for our businesses and employees is unmatched.”
Taylor’s career with Cox also includes Publisher of The Palm Beach Post and The Daily Sentinel in Grand Junction, Colo. and Vice President and General Manager at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Additionally, he served as an advertising executive, reporter and editor at various properties.
“We’ve changed so much for the better in the past 18 months,” said Taylor. “I think it bodes well for our future, and I’m really excited.”
