Condé Nast Keeps Exclusives Secure with Accellion

Friday 11. February 2011 - Accellion Secure File Transfer Provides Publishing Powerhouse an Easy, Secure Way to Collaborate

Accellion, Inc. today announced that publishing company, Condé Nast UK, has selected the Accellion Secure File Transfer solution to securely transfer editorial copy between the agencies that it serves across the globe. Accellion was selected for its ease of use, simple installation and security.
Publisher of some of the world’s most celebrated magazines including Vogue, Glamour, GQ and Tatler, Condé Nast is committed to journalistic integrity, influential reporting and superior design. Key to the company’s success is the award-winning content filling the pages of its magazines.
According to Condé Nast IT director, Lauraine Turner, there was a need to ensure that the company could keep firm hold of its intellectual property. “We received instructions from head office that we had to make sure that content was being transmitted securely. We have chosen Accellion to deliver the even greater levels of security we feel are imperative in today’s fast moving digital world.”
It was the threat that Condé Nast could be putting a valuable asset at risk that prompted the search for a more secure way to share large digital files. With the majority of editorial content being produced by outside contributors, the solution had to be easy to use, simple to implement and highly secure.
Previously Condé Nast relied on an FTP server and e-mail as a way to share copy. The sheer size of files being sent stalled networks and impacted storage. “Contributors were sending design pages with high-resolution glossy photos – these were large files that would clog up the e-mail system. In many instances photographers were sending large selections of photos,” said Turner.
“Accellion is simple to use and installs easily on both PCs and Macs. With Accellion we are confident that pre-published information is secure,” Turner concluded.
Paul Steiner, Accellion’s managing director for Europe said, “In the publishing industry, the ability to collaborate on ideas and content in near real-time is critical to a company’s success. For award-winning publishers like Condé Nast where security is a top priority, Accellion Secure File Transfer ensures proprietary information remains secure while enabling content to be shared in a manner that is very simple to use.”
