Highly Topical Supporting Programme for digi:media 2011
Monday 07. February 2011 - Associations, publishing houses and industry initiatives from the entire communication and publishing sector are making a statement for the future of the industry with their events at digi:media from 7 to 9 April 2011. The programme is highly topical and offers print service providers, advertising and creative agencies, marketeers, print buyers and publishers very interesting content.
Some 15 congresses, conferences, workshops, panel discussions, awards, network meetings, theme parks and special shows are on the agenda of the three-day trade fair for digital printing and commercial publishing.
This comprehensive supporting programme reflecting the entire workflow was made possible thanks to the network of strategic partnerships forged by Messe Düsseldorf with relevant industry associations, publishers and sectoral initiatives. “The conceptual involvement of target visitor groups in digi:media was a particular concern to us,” said Ralph Scholz, Account Manager at Messe Düsseldorf, stressing this strategic approach. He went on to say: “To this end we have deliberately “attached” existing Community events to digi:media to prompt these Communities to enter into a multi-disciplinary exchange. digi:media links these different Communities with each other serving as the connective element.”
“Making Apps” and “Showing Apps”
The digi:media specialist programme kicks off on 6 April under the heading “Showing Apps”. Organiser IDG Magazine Media particularly focuses here on the booming segment of tablet PCs. According to current figures, by 2013 some 400 million Smartphones and tablet PCs will exist on the market. This and the fact that tablet PCs offer publishing houses the possibility to publish additional content and generate profit make them a central theme at “Showing Apps”. Under the heading “Beyond iPad” renowned manufacturers demonstrate that while the iPad leads the sector it now has strong competition. In numerous sessions the show under the heading “Making Apps – Learning from the Experts” demonstrates how content can be loaded onto the Smartphone and tablet PCs. In half-hourly slots on topics such as “Workflow”, “Distribution” and “Marketing” selected Apps experts demonstrate their solutions. Alongside this developers will present their Apps especially tailored to the publishing sector as part of the special show “Showing Apps”. A “Best-of-Show” award honouring the manufacturer with the best App at the fair as well as a workshop entitled “Making Apps – Programming for iPad&Co” complete the range here.
