Klabin and SENAI started technical courses of Logistics and Pulp and Paper on Monday the 17th of January. To highlight the moment, an inaugural class was held in Telemaco Borba’s Hall of Culture and was attended by the industrial director of Klabin’s Monte Alegre, Angatuba and Recycled Paper Plants, Arthur Canhisares and the regional director of SENAI, João Barreto Lopes. The ceremony assembled nearly 300 people, among whom were students and employees of Klabin and SENAI.
The classes will train and qualify students to plan, coordinate and supervise pulp and paper production processes and quality control in the case of a Pulp and Paper Technician. Students taking the Logistics technical course will be able to plan, program and control the production and flow of materials and information in companies. The courses will have a total of 280 students, 240 of whom in the course of Pulp and Paper and 40 in the course of Logistics and they will last 1 year, six months of which will be in an apprenticeship at Klabin. After this period the company will select some of them to become future employees from the 5th class at Klabin’s Monte Alegre Plant.
The event was declared open by Arthur Canhisares, who pointed out that “participation in these courses is an opportunity for eventual future employees both to contribute to the company’s growth and to enrich their professional experience and build up a career for themselves”. After that, the representative from ABTCP (the Brazilian Technical Association of Pulp and Paper) presented information from the sector on domestic and export markets and the Voith Company showed the new students the workings of a paper machine and the activities of the company.
The inaugural class was brought to an end by Edson Camargo Shizuno, the Plant’s coordinator of Human Resources, who spoke about the activities of Human Resources and about the evaluation which will result from the students’ participation during the year of the course and apprenticeship. In the coordinator’s opinion this follow-up is essential for the company to be able to get to know the future employee and thus steer him to the areas most suited to his skills.
