New thermal transfer printer makes UK debut at Pro2Pac

Friday 28. January 2011 - Open Date Equipment's Thermocode iQ thermal transfer printer will make its full UK debut at the up-coming Pro2Pac exhibition (Stand A32).

Designed to operate with all intermittent labelling and packaging machines it is particularly suited for food products.
Open Date’s CEO Gary Cowlard explained, “By using three stepper motors, rather than compressed air as used on conventional machines, the iQ has extremely fine pressure adjustments which means the life of the print head can be doubles in many applications”.
“In addition this control leads to greater print accuracy without loss of speed. Currently the printer can achieve 800 cycles per minute. So it can operate on almost any food production line and tailored to suit,” added Cowlard.
Often printers need to be sited at various points along a line, particularly when the product and pack have a number of components such as ready meals. The iQ is easy to install and a number of units can be networked and controlled from the 7″ touch screen, which has been specially designed for the new printer.
“Not only is the iQ more sustainable to operate,” continued Cowlard, “it can also be used in environments where cleanliness is paramount and potential contamination by compressed air is a factor. This helps to take away an additional risk factor for food producers.”
As with all Open Date equipment, the IQ, designed and built in the UK, has been developed to provide a high standard of quality engineering at a price which offers a speedy ROI, with low operating and maintenance costs.
For example its 1,000 metre ribbon capacity and accurate ribbon drive system provide maximum ribbon efficiency, further reducing operating costs. Maximum print area is 53 x 110mm.
Visitors to the stand will be able to see first hand the versatility and user friendliness of this latest addition to the Thermocode range which was first shown at Pack Expo 2010, as well as examples of the company’s CleanCode inkjet printers and hot foil printers. Open Date will also exhibit its extensive selection of top quality consumables at highly competitive prices. These include foil, ribbon, type, dies as well as print heads for all makes of coder.
