New Dual Top Loader fits Green-On Limiteds dual format CtP needs
Thursday 11. November 2010 - "My six year lithographic plate making apprenticeship (and a few other craft skills) is now superseded by a single machine," says Gerry Clipp, managing director of Green-On Limited. The company has taken delivery of a Suprasetter A75 featuring the new Dual Top Loader that Heidelberg launched at Ipex.
The Tunbridge Wells based general commercial printing company has had a B3 Suprasetter from new which has worked well for them and kept its SM52-2 (with numbering and perforating) well supplied. But recently the company has made its debut in B2 with a second hand Speedmaster SM74-5. So, it needed a CtP device that could handle two formats of plate.
That is exactly what the Dual Top Loader offers, enabling a printing company to be more flexible. The system is very easy to use and at Green-On the machine minders themselves output their own plates.
The name Green-On came from Mr Clipps days in the Territorial Army when the final instruction from the jump-master was: “Red-On! Green On! Go! Go! Go!” He felt it reflected the need for complete preparation, total discipline, utmost precision and a willingness to step into the dark trusting that the rest of the team had performed their job well before “pressing the green button”. However, the name fits well with the companys move towards a more environmental company and as part of that its CtP device will continue to run Fuji Chem-free plates which have already eliminated the need for developer or a gumming device.
Green-On handles a range of commercial work for financial, manufacturing, retailing and theatre clients in London and the Home Counties. It is a 30 year old company employing nine staff and also has a large range of finishing equipment in-house.
