New partnership

Thursday 09. September 2010 - German news magazine FOCUS has entered into an exclusive strategic partnership with its London-based counterpart, The Economist. The cooperation paves the way for a widespread exchange of journalistic content between the two publications. Every week, beginning with the forthcoming issue, FOCUS will offer its readers a selection of articles from "The Economist" that have been translated into German.

The Munich-based magazine now has continuous access to the editorial content produced by the London offices and can call on some of the world’s most highly regarded correspondents. Joint titles will also be launched – starting at the end of year. The first German edition of “The World in 2011”, which has been published and distributed worldwide by “The Economist” for 25 years, will appear in early December. The annual publication features acclaimed writers in the fields of politics, business and culture, who give their bold and thought-provoking forecasts for the forthcoming year. Articles produced by FOCUS will complement the content of the original. Editor-in-Chief Wolfram Weimer: “The Economist and FOCUS, by joining forces, are united two of the strongest media brands in Europe. The time has come for the continent’s major print organizations to work closer together. A more international outlook for FOCUS tallies with the profile of our cosmopolitan, globally networked readers.” The venerable publication “The Economist” first appeared in 1843 and is now printed in five locations around the world. Every week, it sells upwards of a million copies in more than 200 countries.
