Sun-Times Media’s First Consolidated Media Report Issued Today by The Audit Bureau of Circulations

Friday 30. July 2010 - Sun-Times Media, the Chicago region’s most trusted source of local news and information, announced that the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) has released today the first newspaper Consolidated Media Report (CMR) for Sun-Times Media. The Consolidated Media Report is a comprehensive overview of Sun-Times Media’s extensive reach across the Chicago region through its print, online and other digital channels.

“We have been sharing with our advertisers the story of Sun-Times Media’s extensive reach across the Chicago region for a long time. It is truly gratifying to have this now recognized by the industry and by the Audit Bureau of Circulations,” said Jeremy L. Halbreich, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sun-Times Media. “Sun-Times Media reaches a print and online monthly audience of more than 4.3 million readers, or 59 percent of the Chicago DMA, an immensely diverse and attractive audience to our advertisers. We are excited to have this new tool to help us communicate the Sun-Times Media story to our customers.”

On the front page of the CMR, advertisers can very quickly and easily see a list of Sun-Times Media brands and a snapshot of Sun-Times Media’s full print and online reach across the region. The report will also provide the most recent print circulation figures for the Chicago Sun-Times, Beacon-News (Aurora), Courier-News (Elgin), Herald-News (Joliet), Lake County News-Sun, Naperville Sun, Post-Tribune (Northwest Indiana), SouthtownStar, Pioneer Press group (39 publications) and Sun Publications Group (Sun-Times Media’s 11 free extended market coverage publications in the western suburbs), plus aggregated total average paid and analyzed nonpaid circulation.

Also contained in the CMR is Sun-Times Media’s readership data as reported by Scarborough, a respected research company. The report also includes critical data on all Sun-Times Media sites, including unique users and page views. Those sites include Suntimes.com, BeaconNewsOnline.com, CourierNewsonline.com, HeraldNewsOnline.com, NaperSun.com, NewsSunOnline.com, PioneerLocal.com, SouthtownStar.com, Post-Trib.com, RogerEbert.com, CenterstageChicago.com, YourSeason.com and SearchChicago.com.

“Sun-Times Media has a distinguished collection of brands from across the Chicago region, and we’ve long worked closely with our clients to help them to understand the power of the Sun-Times Media network. Now, with this data at their fingertips, they can better make decisions on their advertising buys and really make their dollars work for them,” said Rick Surkamer, President and Chief Operating Officer of Sun-Times Media. “There is no other news network in the Chicago region that has the depth or reach of Sun-Times Media, and we’re excited to help our advertisers understand how the network can work for them.”

The Audit Bureau of Circulations has released Consolidated Media Reports for nine U.S. newspaper members and Sun-Times Media is the 10th news company to issue a CMR. Other news companies include the Austin American Statesmen, Chicago Tribune, Dallas Morning News, Denver Post, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Gettysburg Times (Penn.), Kansas City Star, Minneapolis Star-Tribune and St. Petersburg Times. The Consolidated Media Report is ABC’s customizable report that allows newspapers to present advertisers with a snapshot of their entire media footprint across a myriad of print and digital products
