revive helps fulfil Skys recycled requirements
Thursday 27. May 2010 - Skys recent winter brochure was printed by Geoff Neal Litho Limited of Feltham onto the UKs leading recycled stock, revive pure white silk 170 gsm.
As one of the UKs leading media and entertainment providers, Sky has an on-going commitment to reduce its environmental impact. As part of this commitment Sky required an environmentally friendly grade of paper and a like minded printer for the Sky 2010 Winter Brochure.
revive pure white silk paper is a 100% de-inked post consumer waste silk grade, available from Robert Horne and was sourced by Sky in partnership with Geoff Neal Litho. “The paper used had to be a recycled coated and had to give excellent print quality” explained Chris Fidge, Sales Director of Geoff Neal Litho. “We required a recycled grade with excellent printing, smoothness, good whiteness and consistent quality on press. Given the fact that the brochure produced for Sky needed to have good printing results to ensure absolute clarity of the images, it was essential that the chosen stock would dry successfully without any loss of colour intensity; revive pure white performed admirably. The timescale was critical for Sky and we turned the brochure around very quickly in order to meet their deadline; we therefore needed a grade we could be confident would perform and rise to the challenge.”
Chris went onto explain Geoff Neal Lithos environmental philosophy:
“At Geoff Neal Litho we use various revive recycled products because there is such a wide portfolio of choice for finishes and recycled content, both combined with excellent availability. We are continually delighted with the result that revive is able to provide. Full consideration is always given to the entire production of our work as we pride ourselves on being one of the most ecologically minded printers in the UK. Vegetable based inks are used as standard, with low wastage design and full consideration of recyclability after use. We even source all or energy needs through renewable sources and are carbon neutral.”
The Sky brochure was printed full colour throughout on a Heidelberg B1 6 colour CD press. 1000 copies of this 40pp PUR bound brochure were produced in total.
revive pure white silk is exclusive to Robert Horne in the UK, and comes in a wide range of weights (90 – 350gsm) and sheet sizes. It is just one of the recycled revive family, which also includes a wide choice of recycled contents and finishes including uncoated, matt, gloss and 1-sided boards.
