Nitro PDF Software Announces Release of Nitro PDF Professional OCR, Now With Optical Character Recognition
Wednesday 10. February 2010 - Having revolutionized PDF software with the introduction of the first truly compelling alternative to Adobe Acrobat, Nitro PDF Software today announced the release of Nitro PDF Professional OCR, the latest iteration of Nitro Pro, now available with Optical Character Recognition (OCR).
Nitro Pro OCR allows users to create PDF files and recognize text from pre-existing image- or paper-based documents, allowing them to be searched, edited, archived, and published. Utilizing I.R.I.S. technology, it streamlines the document consolidation and archival process, enabling the creation of fully-compliant, easily-archived PDF/A documents from disparate, pre-existing printed documents and images. With multi-language support, OCR can be used on English, German, French, and Spanish-language documents.
In addition to the implementation of all-new OCR technology, Nitro Pro OCR retains the powerful feature-set that earned Nitro Pro multiple awards, such as ‘Product of the Year’ from PC User, providing the capability to create, convert, edit, combine, secure, annotate, form-fill, review, and save industry-standard PDF files.
“As the single most requested feature, by an overwhelming majority, from our users, it was never a question of whether or not we add OCR to our feature set — simply, ‘how quickly can we build it?'” said Gina O’Reilly, Nitro’s SVP, Sales & Marketing. “Our flagship product, Nitro Pro, has been firmly established as an incredibly persuasive, fully-featured offering within the desktop PDF software marketplace, so the addition of OCR further cements its status as the leading PDF solution for enterprise while reinforcing our commitment to meeting the needs of our users.”
