Dutch health insurer IAK pioneers in end-to-end security of digital policies

Friday 18. December 2009 - The innovative Dutch health insurer IAK chose IntelliStamp from Inventive Designers as a security and authentication solution to digitally send over 150.000 insurance policies a year.

This makes IAK the first health insurer in The Netherlands that can legally send out official documents. Unique is the guarantee that the secured document keeps its legal value upon printing.
IAK, part of Unirobe (AEGON), is specialized in companywide insurance and employee and personal benefits. IAK is one of the largest insurance intermediates in The Netherlands.


IAK started a project to enhance customer service by providing contracts and policies in a digital way, while at the same time guaranteeing authenticity of those documents after a customer printed the document. Problem is that authentic digital documents lose authenticity and legal aspects upon printing.


The Belgian Inventive Designers, specialized in developing innovative and open document design and publishing software, recently introduced a new security solution that verifies authenticity of digitally signed documents, named IntelliStamp. Together with implementation partner Truston, they will add a certificate (IntelliStamp) to every policy.




Manager Operations & ICT Care, C.J.G. Kees van Moorsel explains: “The legal necessity of document authenticity always forced us to send contracts and policies via postal mail. IntelliStamp makes is possible to switch between digital and paper format without losing authenticity. For our customers this means they can immediately receive their policy and they can print it out whenever they want.” Kees van Moorsel continues: “Another great benefit is the cost reduction. We send over 150.000 policies to customers each year via postal mail. Total cost of preparation and postage was calculated at about 2 euro. We see more customers to gradually communicate with us this way, which will result in direct cost reduction.”
